Used to be named Melrose Auto - Roger ran and I expect owned the place. Roger was fantastic- unusually fair. Occasionally he would say, nah you don't owe me anything but I always insisted on a tip or some wine.
New group that took over charges more for less. That's what after Covid business is like. But when I go in and the breaks are loose - push down far to brake and no screeching or brake grinding noise. It means my buddies car doesn't need brakes, just tighten up the line.

Fantastic Business, Honest, thorough and friendly service. They know what they are doing. My family and I have been customers for a long time and we have taken all our cars to My Mechanic. They do Oil Changes and Big Repairs. They look at the car, let me now what I need to fix now and what can wait for a bit. Sophia has astounding customer service and is highly knowledgeable. The most helpful people I've ever met. They went above and beyond to help me bring my car in. They literally pushed my car a couple blocks, which had died in the middle of the street. I was stressed to say the least. I had to run to work for an important meeting. I told them I could only check email or text and they kept in touch the entire time. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and had it done the next day. Wow! What great service.

So lucky I found this place. Sophie is so kind, knowledgeable and down to earth. The mechanics finished repairs on my car (2007) in an hour, including a free inspection. Nobody tried to sell me anything extra - in fact they didn't recommend any changes. They saved me a lot of money. Definitely coming back here again!!

Sophia is absolutely hands down the nicest, most professional and real person ice spoken to in a long time. I called in crisis mode needing a last minute trailer hitch installation on my Nissan Kicks S, and despite the garage being to busy to help me that day, she actually went above and beyond to find me a garage that could take the same day, late afternoon appointment. Which believe me was a daunting task that i had been searching more than two weeks to secure. I will definitely be using this garage for all of my future needs and short of wishing car trouble on myself that time cant come soon

I used this shop twice pre-Covid, and it was reasonable, and techs were very knowledgeable. Called recently for quote for 2 front shocks on older, vehicle and was given a quote of $800 for shocks (no struts) and labor! Given that light truck shocks for my vehicle range from $40-$80 per shock, that was outrageous! The guy said he confirmed with his tech twice. Staff has changed since Covid. They used to be reasonable, did free quotes, and were willing to install parts I purchased myself at very reasonable labor costs. They also used to send photos of issues they found. But that after that quote

Update: Danny reached out to me a few hours later and is very concerned about my initial feedback. He was willing to fix the issue and compensate for the poor customer service I've been receiving. Hence, I changed the rating to 5 stars from what it was originally, 1 star. Danny will address the issue with the staff as well. Knowing that Danny is still around, I do recommend the shop as they have been providing great service over the years. I will continue to go to this shop. What a great idea. And, anxiously used it. So, when my rarely used garaged 87 BMW 325 wouldn't start. I had 3 different appts. with 2 different mechanics @ $99 each. Scattered over the course of a month & a half. To conclude. We don't know. Then when trying to express my concern & leaving many msgs. for help or guidance. Never even received a return call. Complete waste of time & money.

After my brakes started giving out driving through the Grapevine from LA to San Francisco, I needed to find somewhere near our hotel who could fix our brakes fast. I found My Mechanic through yelp and I'm so glad I did. I called when I was a few hours away from SF and they worked with me to figure out my eta and fix my car before days end. Friendly, professional, clean, and fast. We brought our 2004 Subaru Forester here for double head gasket replacement. We couldn't be happier with the work. Jhovanny stayed in communication with us throughout the process, sent us photos of the engine as it was being reassembled. The mechanic's work is clean and precise. We just took the car on a 300 mile trip and it purrs and runs smoothly - it is like driving a whole different car. I highly recommend this shop.

This is the worst auto repair ever. Really bad experience there. My engine light was on with 3 codes for the EGR and one code for the cylinder #2. They charged me $950 to replace 3 ignition coils which I didn't need it and I realized later. 3 days later, the same engine light was on with the same code, took the car back there and then they said I needed a replacement for the EGR and that would cost me an EXTRA $800. So they never took care of my initial problem and I paid for something that it didn't really needed to be changed. I don't suggest ANYONE to go there. EXPENSIVE and CARELESS

Warren is an honest, transparent, and knowledgeable mechanic which is why I keep coming back. I trust bringing my car to get serviced and I trust recommending this shop to friends and colleagues. I've been in multiple times and he's always upfront and accurate about what is wrong, how much time it will take, and the final cost.
I find his prices to be fair and the tasks done properly and quickly. Although the shop is in SoMa he gives off a very neighborhood mechanic type of vibe, a sense of community mechanic, I appreciate that. Also the online updates and overview is a great touch

Really great and honest mechanic. Another shop had told me my car was dead, and they could not figure out how to fix it. Had it towed to my mechanic for a second opinion, took some work but they figured it out and repaired it for a really fair price and did not try and up sell me on anything. Car is running great again. Highly recommend.

It's official, this is now my go-to place as my car gets on in age. They've fixed a number of issues for me: power window motor, convertible top switch, misfiring ignition coils. In each case Warren was very transparent about his crew's steps to diagnose and remedy the problem, meaning that they did what they said they would and on the schedule promised. price was reasonable and as forecast.
And indeed, their location is frickin awesome; if you work anywhere in SF you can pretty much walk bart or muni from here.
