California is a community property state, so the law presumes that each spouse is entitled to 50 percent of the marital estate. But if you don't clearly distinguish between your separate and marital property, you could lose much more than you imagined possible in a subsequent divorce. At Williams Family Law, we help clients protect their personal assets through carefully crafted marital agreements.
Divorce proceedings, also called dissolution proceedings, involve the resolution of all the issues related to the termination of the marriage, such as division of property, custody of any children, and any regular financial support needed for children or a former spouse. At Williams Family Law, we draw upon years of experience and extensive skills to help you obtain a positive outcome in every aspect of your divorce.
If you have decided to dissolve your marriage or domestic partnership, you probably have many questions about the divorce process. Court filings, hearings, settlement conferences and mediation can be intimidating, but with the personalized guidance you receive from Williams Family Law, you can have confidence every step of the way.

Stephanie is highly experienced and knowledgeable. My divorce was very stressful as my ex was making false allegations against me and doing all sorts of things that she could do to break me down. At that time Stephanie's advice and support was invaluable. Going through divorce seemed an impossible thing at one point as I was alone (My family was in India). She has a great team. Shelly Richardson(one of her team member) is an amazing person to work with. In this difficult time talking to Shelly about any issue regarding my case was like getting emotional therapy. I felt like I had the support
