Most patients go to an orthopedist when they are suffering from heightened pain in their primary joints. Foot, ankle, and knee fractures are the most frequently treated due to a sports related injury or general "wear and tear" as part of the aging process. Dr. Benjamin E. A bunion occurs when your big toe begins to turn and face your second toe. This makes your bone turn inward, and then you are left with an unsightly, and excruciating bump. Your chances of getting a bunion increases as you get older. Also the condition is more prevalent in women. Bunions often start off as a small, bothersome foot problem.
Whether from extreme activity or from aging, the body's joints can wear down over time. Sometimes, you will need to undergo surgery to get your joints back in working order. Other times, your body just needs some extra support to heal itself. That's why Dr. Stein offers custom braces for both knees and ankles to keep you on your feet.
Fallen arches or flat feet cause pain, discomfort, and swelling in your foot. The arch of the foot absorbs the pressure of your body weight as it hits the ground. It also allows the feet to adapt to different surfaces. Without the arch in your foot, the joints, ligaments, bones, and tendons in your feet feel the extra pressure.

This is the year anniversary of my ankle replacement surgery and I couldn't be happier. I was born with club feet, most severe on the left. I had extremely good orthopedic care as a child, but just after college in the summer of 1983, I broke my left ankle badly and ended up with a couple of screws in my ankle joint. Many years later after hiking, biking and skiing on that ankle, it was very stiff and sore. Dr. Stein was my 2nd opinion for the surgery and I'm very glad that I opted to have him do it. I did all of my recovery PT upstairs from his office which was fantastic. I have more mobility

I saw Dr. Stein over the course of the last year for a midfoot fusion consultation, surgery, and follow ups. I really appreciate his straightforward, honest, clear, and utmost professional attitude with me through the whole process. He gave me an incredibly clear picture of the procedure and recovery I was going to endure, making me more than ready to tackle what was ahead. He has a wonderful bedside manner and truly compassionate when delivering information that often can be hard to hear. He has a great team of PAs and assistants that were always there for questions and concerns, even giving me

I had ankle surgery with Dr. Stein in Fall 2018 after a hockey injury left me with multiple ankle fractures. Dr. Stein and his team were professional, sympathetic, and answered questions in a timely matter. My surgery and rehab went well and I am now completely healed. I am a very active person and even with sports and running, I am never in any discomfort or pain despite having screws and plates permanently in my ankle. It is like I never had surgery. This must speak to the strong surgical skills of Dr. Stein and the great Physical Therapy team in Dr. Stein's office. I wouldn't hesitate highly

This was my 2nd foot surgery with Dr Stein. He is far and above one of the best surgeons I have ever dealt with. He quickly diagnosed the problems on each foot, one of which was misdiagnosed and the other with previous surgery performed badly. He explained the options for surgical or non-surgical treatment and expected outcome for these options. He also went into a lot of detail about post-op recovery and rehab, something I have not experienced from other surgeons. The office staff, schedulers, and assistants are first-rate. This surgery was done at the new Capital Orthopedic Surgical Center in

Dr Stein is great! Knowledgeable, professional, and a confident surgeon! All of that really helped calm my nerves about the decision to have surgery as well as leading up to the day of surgery and throughout the recovery. Id highly recommend Dr. Stein to all of my friends and family. My leg is about 90% back to normal 7 months post surgery and pain free!

I cannot thank Dr. Stein enough for his amazing talents and getting me back on my feet (literally). I tore my achilles tendon in June and the next day Dr. Stein squeezed me into his schedule the day before his vacation and I had surgery two weeks later. The whole process from the surgery, recovery, follow ups, and physical therapy has been a pain-free and stress-free experience. I high recommend Dr. Stein and his amazing team for any of your medical needs.

I highly recommend Dr. Stein. My orthopedist referred me to Dr. Stein when it became clear that the surgery I required on my foot and ankle was too specialized. Dr. Stein was very energetic and explained everything to me. He answered all of my questions and graciously slowed down when I asked him to! His staff was great and returned my calls timely when I had questions after the fact. Dr. Stein gave me realistic expectations and still achieved the goal of getting me back to all of the physical activities in which I engage. I would definitely recommend Dr. Stein, and am grateful for the work he

Dr. Stein is simply the most impressive physician I have ever met. He operated on my Achilles tendon which was destroyed from a lifetime of running and from Haglund's deformity. After just a few months of recovery I am able to engage in all my former activities without pain. I highly recommend him to runners and athletes.

In November of 2017 I had a complete tear of my achilles tendon. I called a good friend and amazing upper extremity surgeon Dr. Mustapha Haque looking for a referral for my injury. He refereed me to Dr. Ben Stein.
This was my first major surgery and Dr. Stein was quick, calming, and took great care of me. The surgery went well, met him several times over the course of 8 months and I was free to go by August of 2018. I also had a great PT Paulina Ochao who definitely play a huge part in my recovery.
Less than a year later, I was hunting Elk in Colorado...
Thank you Dr. Stein for taking care of
