Congratulations to Dr. Schiller for being elected to Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association! We believe in understanding the underlying issues and figuring out what's motivating the addictive behaviors that trigger multiple disorders. Often adults suffer professionally and in relationships from undiagnosed ADHD.
Education, behavioral treatments, and psychotherapy treatments are the most effective with adults with ADHD. Treatment for anxiety disorder includes: generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and specific phobia. Bipolar disorder requires psychiatric treatment as soon as possible and need to be under psychiatric medication supervision.

We often equate ADHD with children, but ADHD symptoms frequently persist into adulthood. The problems present in childhood, such as difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior, may also plague adults. Adult ADHD can lead to unstable relationships, poor work performance, low self-esteem and other problems.
Anxiety disorders oftentimes accompanies depression, and can be described as general anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, and others. Treatment can vary greatly depending on the type of disorder and the individual involved. We are a San Francisco and Bay Area anxiety and depression treatment center focusing on customizing individual anxiety treatment plans with proven and effective treatments.
People who are struggling with addiction often experience anxiety, depression, and delusions. This is called a co-occurring disorder and it recognizes that substance use is often driven by underlying mental disorders. The term dual diagnosis also indicates that someone is struggling with both mental illness and substance use.
Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves a person feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it does not involve physical harm. The most important factor in determining trauma is the individual's emotional experience of the event. Ultimately, traumatic events lead to a loss of one's sense of security.
Bipolar disorder requires psychiatric treatment as soon as possible and generally requires psychiatric medication treatment. With proper psychiatric treatment, most people with bipolar disorder can reach a stable state. However, because bipolar disorder is a recurring life-long illness, long-term preventive psychotherapy is necessary.

I attended Mind therapy and had such a positive experience. I am a dual diagnosis client- anxiety, depression and substance abuse. I have a history of abuse and PTSD. All of my issues were addressed in groups and in individual therapy. I was able to process my trauma and learn coping skills for triggers. Mark Shiller is a psychiatrist that actually cares, takes the time for his patients, and really listens when meds aren't working- he doesn't just over prescribe. He is kind and considerate. If anyone is looking for care that will help you recover and maintain wellbeing, Mind Therapy is the place
