Alexandrite, the birthstone for June, is beautifully mysterious. Alexandrites exhibit the unique phenomenon known as Color Change. Under warm light Chatham created alexandrites are a reddish-purple while under natural white light they turn a beautiful teal green. Chatham lab-grown alexandrites exhibit excellent color change because they are grown in a controlled environment in their natural crystal habit, shown left.
Chatham aqua blue spinels have the icy blue color of the sea. Their color and durability make Chatham aqua blue spinels the perfect alternative to mined aquamarines. Chatham aqua spinels rank 8 on Moh's scale of hardness. Plus they have good toughness. Like all Chatham stones, the aqua spinels are carefully grown under controlled conditions.
Chatham created blue sapphires are just as beautiful as some of the worlds most valuable mined sapphires. We stock Chatham sapphires in medium tone, but some light and dark tones may be available. Medium tone is considered top color. The medium tone blue sapphires have a gorgeous blue body color with slight violetish undertones.
