South Blend is cozy and unassuming. I came in for the first time today not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I got the low rider breakfast: I don’t usually get waffles because they’re usually pretty bog standard. The “crack” waffles are a game changer!! They’re like a cross between a waffle and a crispy donut with amazing flavor. The chorizo was a great contrast to the sweetness, and the hollandaise was buttery and subtle. The fried egg overtop made for the perfect bite. Highly recommend

My wife and I stopped by sunday morning l. And we where both highly satisfied. Besides the food being stupid delicious, it was satisfying to be able to walk in and order right away and find a seat. Unlike other breakfast places where you may have to wait a few minutes before getting table. Maybe one of south bends best kept secrets? If you want tasty food good coffee cone to this place food comes out quick and you will leave happy

I cannot say enough good things about South Blend Cafe. Probably my favorite place I've stumbled on in South Bend. I love being able to support businesses like this. The owner, Kim, is always in house grinding and engaging people to make her cafe better. And she stayed open during the pandemic doing takeout, making sure to keep her place accessible and clean / safe.
Getting to the food, the coffee is constantly being turned over so always fresh. Her fruit and veggies never seem like they aren't just as fresh, which is nice. I have to put out a plug for the Low Rider sandwich. It&apos

The coffee is an A++, I don't think I've ever had a better latte.
The food was splendid! But it's slightly overpriced.
The service is great.
I would say that the atmosphere reminds me a bit too much of a cafe and not a coffee shop considering the price and the quality of the good offerings.
Overall I suggest visiting!

SBC has been a nice gem during my stay, until today. While waiting for my food, the cook, who is also the owner, fed a dog (hand to dog's mouth) directly in front of me. I watched as her hand was literally contacting the dogs mouth, then she wiped her hand on her apron. I just can't handle it. I am a loving dog owner, but I don't mix animal contact with food. We are in the middle of the most uncanny virus and new normal. We must be more vigilant about sanitation. I paid for my food, and upon leaving, I tossed it - at second thought. This was unacceptable.

I had a lunch provided byThe South Blend Cafe Sunday 3-8-20.
Had ham and Swiss, some sort of fruit mix salad, pickles chips, cookies and Rice crispy treat, In my opinion this was a very good lunch, there was a group of us who ate and we all enjoyed it! The lady who delivered it to the place we were working was very nice and made sure to let us know if there wasn't enough she was right next-door and would bring some more right over. The picture I provided is not the best picture because the plate was small and I couldn't spread it out but believe me this is worth it taste!

My husband yelped this restaurant just looking for newer breakfast/cafe places to try. It had good reviews so we decided to try it. Upon arriving we realized it's definitely more of a "do it yourself" kind of place. Grab a menu and then order at the counter and pay before eating. We still wanted to give a try even though we were wanting more of a cozy atmosphere. We each ordered our own french press coffee at $5.50 each. The coffee did indeed come in a french press, but it was terribly weak and had grounds throughout after pressing. The food arrived. It smelled good. It looked good

Delightful. Gourmet food. Splendid staff.
I have been coming here for this entire first year of their existence and I have to say I don't think they have had to go through any "growing pains." This place has been divine and delicious since Day 1. It is such a refreshing change of pace from the usual breakfast place (I usually only come for breakfast vs. lunch so that's what I'm reviewing here) in South Bend. More importantly, it's a refreshing change of pace (and WELCOME addition) to Downtown SB.
My absolute favorites are "The Perfect Mess" (which is

I wanted to really love this place but it just did not cut it for me. To start off it's really expensive for such a small local area, my cup of fruit was literally $5 which I found to be not worth it. The food wasn't that spectacular nothing to go home and rave about. The coffee was okay, but tasted like any other cup of coffee. The staff was very kind though and willing to help with whatever I needed. I'd say it was okay, not the best but not the worst. Probably won't be back anytime soon.
