While we utilize the latest dental technology and techniques at Kauai Dental Studio, we have not forgotten the basics. Every day we practice the concept of Pono values - honesty, fairness, kindness, and compassion. To maintain a high standard of excellence in all aspects of dental practice (dental techniques/education, equipment, laboratory, materials, safety/sterilization, treatment outcomes and patient care).
Dr. Paul Yoo is a "local boy" from Oahu. He is married to Janie Yoo, an ophthalmologist from California, and is the father of three beautiful children. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
Christine moved to Kauai from San Diego, where she spent over 20 years in the dental field - starting as a registered dental assistant, moving on to surgical assisting, then office administration, and finally as a technical advisor for a dental implant company. She has a passion for her field which comes across in every way.
A dental crown is a common method of reinforcing a damaged tooth, hopefully preventing further damage or even tooth loss. When a large structure of a tooth has been damaged, usually from decay or accident, Dr. Yoo may recommend a crown. The crown covers the visible area of the tooth - everything above the gumline.
If you have dentures, you know they can be an excellent option for tooth replacement. However, dentures that are ill-fitting or prone to slippage are not only irritating, they can also harm your mouth. Damaged or worn-down dentures may keep you from eating what you like and can be a source of social embarrassment.

I thought I was getting an appointment with dr. Yoo but someone else saw me and she barely looked at my tooth just packed it with some stuff without even cleaning it out first and then told me to see a specialist for a root canal and sent me on my way. She was also giggling behind my head with her colleague, which was very unprofessional. I don’t feel comfortable going back, seems like a group of girls that shame people with bad teeth. Thanks for the referral, but I think I’ll see someone else to finish the job.

I can’t believe I’m writing a review for a dentist! I have dental phobia, or should say I had! I can’t say enough about Dr.Yoo and his staff. What began as a very painful (mentally, and physically) dental decline turned into a beautiful smile again. The staff is always friendly, caring and attentive. I was always seen within 24 hours of a problem. The final product is beyond my expectations. I was thinking I’d have to go to the mainland or Oahu for quality dentistry, but it’s right here on Kauai.
