Josh is a Marine who was severely injured from an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) while deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom. His injuries resulted in quadriplegia (paralysis from the chest down). After spending several years recovering/rehabilitating from his injuries, Josh attempted to explore his prospects to return to driving.
Tammy has over 15 years experience as an occupational therapist and over 12 years as a driving rehab specialist. These testimonials are from former clients at a military treatment facility, as well as former clients at DRCE. We went to DRCE to get an evaluation for our 21 year old son, Kevin, who suffered an SCI about 8 months ago and is paralyzed from the chest down.
A driver evaluation is completed by a qualified therapist with specialized driving rehabilitation training (Certified Driving Rehab Specialist - CDRS). He/She will complete clinical and on-road assessments of your abilities. Immediately after your comprehensive evaluation, a CDRS will make recommendations based on your results; he/she will verbally review the recommendations with you.
At the Driver Rehabilitation Center of Excellence, our mission is to provide you with the highest quality individualized services, so that together we will find the best solution to meet your unique driving and community mobility needs. Our goal is to maximize your independence allowing you to reach your greatest potential.
XL-Base: In one smooth, simple motion, the XL-BASE rotates and then gently lowers out of the vehicle. This cycle can be stopped at any time to allow transfer at desired height. XL-Seat: Open your vehicle's door and fold the XL-SEAT down. Once transferred onto the XL-SEAT, use the retractable support arm for safety and balance while it takes you up to the driver's seat.

I live in Frederick, MD and after searching for over 6 months for someone to install running boards on my 82 year old mom's Subaru, I finally, thankfully, received a recommendation to contact DRCE. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The DRCE team was so compassionate to my mom's mobility issues and designed and installed the running boards in under 3 days and also at a price point that allowed her to take advantage of the Subaru Mobility Assist Program meaning it cost her $0.00. I wish all businesses had the customer service I received from this team! A true joy to work with! And, now

The team at DRCE is amazing!! They helped my husband a few years ago get hand controls in his car and now three years later docking stations and hand controls for our Ford Explorer! They took their time to make sure everything worked for us. We are both wheelchair users and now we can finally independently go to places together!! Thank you DRCE for being so caring of your costumers. Seriously go here if you just need advice on what car will work for you before you purchase or if you need modifications to your current car.

TOP NOTCH!!! What can I say, from the minute I made my initial phone call to the end of my modifications DRCE was outstanding. The entire staff CARES and it shows through the entire process. A huge plus to this company is not only are they a driving school but they also do vehicle modifications for the handicapped. I did my due diligence when getting quotes on my modifications and to say the least their prices are more than FAIR. I went through a driving school in my local town, but after going through their school they were unable to sign me off on certain modifications I wanted/needed. DRCE was

5 stars, from the moment I spoke to Trista on the phone for the first time I felt like I was talking to a friend. She answered all my questions n made me feel at ease. I went for my appt a bit nervous not knowing what to expect. There I met Tish and Tammy and other members of the team all great and so easy to talk to. When it came time to getting behind the wheels Tish helped me to understand the hand controls n made me feel so relax, again I felt I had a friend in the adapted car with me. Tish was wonderful, she was so down to earth which helped me relax, made for a wonderful experience. I can
