Delaware Dance Company was founded over thirty years ago as "The Ballet School of Newark". In 1984, the non-profit "Delaware Dance Company" was Incorporated as a performing group associated with the school.
In the early 90s, the school was absorbed into the non-profit and DDC now supports two performing groups, the Youth Dance Ensemble, for intermediate dancers 11 to 13 years, and the pre-professional DDC Performing Company, for experienced, high-school aged dancers.

CDC guidelines on masks, social distancing and disinfecting surfaces will be followed. As we begin the year, we are requiring all students 4 years and older as well as all adults to wear a mask inside the building. Many DDC students are too young to be vaccinated and we wish to keep them safe. Vaccinated instructors may lead class without a mask, but will wear a mask when approaching students.
DDC is pleased this year to offer a 2-week Summer Musical Theatre Camp. Each of three age groups will prepare excepts from a New York musical. Classes and exercises will focus on the required versatility and expressiveness needed for the professional stage. This program is for participants ages 8 to 10 with or without dance experience, for dancers with some experience ages 11 to 13 years, and intermediate to advanced dancers 14 years and older.
YDE is Delaware Dance Company's younger performing ensemble for advanced beginner and intermediate level dancers. All members must enroll in a Jazz or Modern class in addition to their required Ballet curriculum. YDE attends and performs at local festivals and community events.
Recently, they have attended and performed at the Maryland Dance Festival and at the Delaware Dance Festival as well as performing at Newark Community Day, for fundraising events for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and American Cancer Society and for local retirement communities.Keep up to date with all of Delaware Dance Company happenings, closures, and important dates!
