Friends Child Care & Preschool has successfully provided day care and educational services for over 30 years. Our Director, Patricia MacKenzie, has been both a Kindergarten and Preschool teacher. Miss Pat, as she is known to the children, is certified in First Aid and CPR and is on the premises at all times.
She also hold current certifications as a Child Development Associate (CDA) and National Administrator Credential (NAC) and has a Degree in Art. Our program is New York State Registered and offers a strong foundation in pre-math and reading readiness - better preparing your child for success in Kindergarten!

Services
Our indoor activity center is a spacious sun-filled playroom. We provide a variety of toys and materials to engage the student's attentions and imaginations. Our activity center boasts a playhouse, a kitchen center, and a tool center in addition to blocks, dolls and dress-up clothes. Children who need quiet time can lay on our soft padded carpet and enjoy an educational video.
We feature developmentally appropriate learning activities tailored to the changing individual needs and learning style of each student. We work together toward goals in reading and math skills. We use number and letter matching, story sequencing, differentiating shapes, sizes, direction (left and right) and letter sounds.
Not only did we have our first child enrolled at Friends Childcare & Preschool, but our second as well. Our son, Parker was reading, writing and showing his creativity learned at Ms. Pat's table. When we had our second son together we were on the waiting list to get him in. We jumped at the opportunity as soon as the spot opened up and couldn't be happier.

Our family has been using Pat's services for over sixteen years. Pat had our eldest reading before entering Kindergarten, and both of our children were well prepared for their transition to school on both an educational and social level. In later years Pat was able to give our children help with their transition to school busses, and she provided a nurturing after-school environment for them, where they could do their homework and relax. We consider her more than a teacher, she has become a part of our family and has been critical in their success.

I believe our 2 daughters were among the first to attend Friends Child Care & Preschool. My wife and I both worked and had tried several options before we found Pat MacKenzie. She was an answer to our prayers. We could not hope for a more nurturing environment for our girls. Rather than just sit our daughters in front of a TV, or leave them in a playpen, she involved them in many educational activities. They often came home with craft items that they had made. And they looked forward to going back the next day. When our daughters finally started Kindergarten, they were far ahead of their peers
