Learn more about the youth and adult programs we offer at Okinawan Karate Dojo: Dragons (Age 3-5), Tigers (Ages 6-9), Cranes (Ages 10 & up) and Adults. Our dojo's team of well-trained, patient, and friendly black belt instructors are led by Head Instructor, Sensei Stanley Crump - 6th Degree Black belt.

Learn more about Sensei Crump and other staff at the dojo. Our 8 year old son has been attending classes at the Okinawan Karate Dojo for 2 years, and we could not be happier with the experience. His training at the dojo has provided a solid understanding of how to protect/defend himself, which has helped him build confidence in his interactions with other kids.
Services
When you choose the Okinawan Karate Dojo, you are making a statement. We stand humbly behind our belief that the environment we provide keeps students involved, committed, inspired, and prepared. Come and reach your goals with the Okinawan Karate Dojo. Our style of martial arts is an extremely effective and engaging style of karate from Okinawa, Japan.
One thing I'd like to get out of my storm training is being able to help my little sister. Also, I think extra training would be good for me. I was inspired by the other members of the STORM team to help other students to enjoy karate as much as I do. I am on a step team, participate in activities at my church, play basketball, and sing in chorus at my middle school and for the John Hopkins Peabody Preparatory.
Uechi-ryu (pronounced uu-way-chee roo) is the style of karate that you are learning. It is a dynamic martial art that can improve one's health and vigor, and is an extremely effective system of unarmed self-defense. Uechi-ryu is named after Master Kanbun Uechi, who was born on the island of Okinawa, Japan.
This program teaches our little ones foundational karate skills. Self-defense at this age takes on so many forms which is why our program also includes teaching students how to avoid conflict and fighting in the first place. In the Dragons program, a primary aim is to keep kids engaged and focused.
At such a very important stage in their development, students in this age range need all of the right influences surrounding them to impact their development. Being able to defend themselves, should a need arise, is one of our primary goals. Therefore, we take full advantage of the energy and zest that kids have and channel it into an exciting and meaningful study of traditional karate.

My kid has been a student at 3 different dojo's, and this one is top notch. Great with values as well as serious martial arts studies. The instructors are inspirational teachers for children of all ages and also adults and young adults. Recommend for anyone who would like to elevate their own lives or the lives of their families

My son has been coming to Okinawan Karate Dojo for almost a full year. Sensei Stan and the rest of his team do a really wonderful job teaching the kids! This school is very family oriented and maintains an educational yet fun environment.

The pricing here is very fair for the classes as well as their branded merchandise. The class schedule is also very easy to follow. The daily class schedule for each level of students is different for every day of the week. However, this schedule is the same every week. Once you input the dates into your calendar you can put them on repeat and you'll never

I am a 14-year-old, but I've been attending OKD for almost 10 years now, and it has helped me so much, mentally and socially, because when I'm there I enjoy my time, and I also enjoy the good vibes all the Sensis bring! Sometimes a class may seem a little slow, but it's ok because it's like a family that will never give up on you! The instructors are always so encouraging, caring, and motivative towards me and my colleges, even when we (I) don't feel in the mood. They've also helped me maintain focus inside and out of the dojo which, comes in handy!

Absolutely love Okinawa Dojo- they make my son feel loved and supported... they knew him by name and learned about what excites him from day one. They instantly instilled in him not only a love for karate but, a new found confidence in himself. The owner take pride in the dojo and his students and he is kind and caring. I highly recommend this dojo you won't regret it!

I haven't participated in a class, but I had a great experience with them. My husband needed a pair of white pants for an event, and when we couldn't find any in stores, I thought of a karate uniform. I called at 730pm the night before, but they waited for me to get there. The studio looked clean and orderly and they were very friendly. I really appreciated everything and I'll definitely be looking here first if one of our kids wants to do karate.
