The worst, the most smelly, the tiniest room, the filthiest, the dirtiest hotel room ever! It's absolutely horrifying! I was worried that I'd caught Covid from this uncleaned room!
First of all, the room was so tiny that I couldn't find space to put or open my suitcase, there's only two feet of spaces around the queen bed which was stinky as hell! Everything I touched were sticky, dusty! Toilet kept flashing and leaking water whole night long! No ventilation in bathroom., can't open window because no screen and people can walk by with full views! Had to wait for the front

We loved this place! Rented 2 rooms since we had a large family. More than enough space! Loved the decorating. Reminded me of being at my grandma's as a young girl. The owner was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was nice. I love to take photos, so all the props on the property were perfect! We will definitely be booking with them again soon. Great experience! We even woke to snow falling..it was perfect!

Rustic, liked the decor, manager/owner helpful and friendly, very nice.
Beds comfy. Clean
Needs some repairs and upgrades but my understanding new owners are working on that.
Nice it's there on main street near shops, restaurants, no need to drive.
Can walk around town.
Grocery Outlet very close couple blocks.
I'd recommend.

This is a very cute hotel with a lot of history and beautiful antique decorations. The one staff member we met was awesome, he helped us check-in early and walked us to our room. He gave us a tour of the room explaining the little quirks, every room has it's own personality and we loved that. The breakfast one of the best we've ever had, it's more then your typical free breakfast. It was pretty much a homemade breakfast the coffee was on point and you can make your own waffles.
The only complaints that we have are the bed is a typical hotel bed, it was not very comfortable and there wasn't a fridge

Staff was great. Let us check in early, because the room was ready. Loved that. Gave us the room that we requested. Management was great. Beds were comfy and clean as well as the room.
Could use a new mini fridge as ours was rusted on the inside. No microwave. Heater worked great. There was a musty smell in the room. Good thing I brought a mini deodorizer. Loved the decor in our room. Very close to shopping.

I had the misfortune to contract COVID 4 days before departing for our trip to Sonora. We immediately contacted the hotel and asked for a refund or credit as we still needed to make the trip when my quarentine ended. This is where the fun starts..... No help. No return phone calls. No manager (ever) to speak with. Just constant putting us off until the 4 days passed. Normally, I attempt some humor because life's to short to be angry but I'm too upset w this hotel and their employees to be funny

This is my cup of tea ☕ from the room to the free breakfast at the special guest breakfast room and steps away from any downtown shopping that you need or want. I did not have to worry about parking - it was stress free and I felt so safe. Prices were additionally fair for the total value of what you get. The owners are attentive to your every needs but will never intrude they are there just to execute your needs.

Stayed here one night for a wedding and it's a cute hotel. Parking is behind the hotel and up a steep road. Did not go in the pool since we didn't bring swimsuits so I can't review it. It did look clean though. Our room was nice and it did come with air conditioning which was extremely nice since it was so stinking hot when we stayed. The floors are uneven in the room (in ours) so as someone who is clumsy, beware especially if you're drunk lol. This did make the room kind of fun in my opinion. This hotel is close to many restaurants and shopping and had we not stayed one night, we would've explored

Our room was cozy, the pool was refreshing and the breakfast was yummy.
The manager was also very friendly.
I heard this hotel was haunted. I did not see any ghosts but I think one visited us because when we left our room all of the pictures on the walls were straight but when we came back the painting above our headboard was crooked.
It was spooky😨😱😱😱😨😱

If you are not interested in reading the whole review I will give you the short version: This is one of the oldest hotels in California and the best way to describe the Gunn House Inn is spending the night at an old dirty thrift-store. However, I did appreciate the history behind it. Pretty much a 2-star hotel with a five star history. The history and rumors about the hauntings is what originally attracted us to this location. On arrival, the gentleman working the counter was polite and checked us in to our room promptly. We got room number 5, which is rumored to be one of the haunted rooms. The

We loved this place! Wish we'd gotten to spend more time at the hotel! It was such a cute building and definitely brought that old-timey feel with covered verandas, a little garden, and plenty of outdoor seating. The driveway was a little tricky to spot as it was right next to another hotel, but the parking lot in back is perfectly situated so you don't have to walk far at all. The pool was nice and quiet in the evening and the rooms were quiet and very comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and cozy old-fashioned decor. The only thing lacking was a mini-fridge, but we didn't need one anyway. The

Fun, older, rustic hotel. No elevators and lots of stairs! Having a slight handicap it was very difficult to maneuver. Pool was very nice. Website said breakfast starts at 5 which would have been perfect for heading to Yosemite but when we got to the hotel we were told breakfast didn't start until 7:30 so unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy breakfast after all. Being a historic place, there were not very many outlets in the room for charging electronics.

Worst stay ever! Have been going there for years! Didn't flip the room on our first night of two nights. Had no clean towels, soap, shampoo, only one trash can in the bathroom....water faucet in bathroom barely ran water, shower barely provided enough stream to rinse you off! Omg, I'm not one to complain about this beautiful place but it has gone to hell! 15 years ago it was amazing. What happened????? I've stayed here since 1989....not again!!! Disappointed.

I stayed here about 30 years ago with my father and brother and had a great stay. Thought I'd do the same with my son. Huge mistake. Hotel is run down and not code compliant in many ways. We had a balcony in our room which had signs of dry rot (made me worry about Berkeley rental balcony and Irish students). The banisters on the second story overlooking the pool are also way too low for safety. There was other dry rot and rickety issues too.
The bigger problem though was with the manager and customer service. When we checked in we were asked if we would take a room with a television that

We arrive at 8:30 pm and the proprietor was not on site. We had to call a number and wait for him to arrive. He was very pleasant but after helping us quickly ran upstairs to our room and asked us to wait outside. He told us the housekeeper forgot to put pillow cases on the pillows. As he went out he had a dirty hand towel in his hand. It quickly became apparent that the room had not been cleaned and all the bath towels were dirty. There was even makeup stains on the towels. I cant cannot even think about the bed. It seemed as everything in the room had been strip off the bed and towels crumpled

There are so many problems with this reservation that I feel you ought to know. I would not have booked it had I known the problems that existed. 1st would be no one available to check us in at 4pm. I had to call someone. Eventually a nice lady came but although I was wearing a mask she was NOT (per pandemic regulations). She could not find our reservation. Maybe due to internet issues, not sure. She wrote down my debit card number, by hand on paper (she said it was kept for incidentals) which seems like a safety issue. That's why all the info is shared with AirB&B to keep the info loop

Great customer service...hate to say bad things, but that was worst sleep I've had in a long time. Completely dirty bathroom floor rug and towels the size of 3 year old's body, plus pillows that are so flat and small that we had to use the somewhat dirty throw pillows. The room was themed, so they are trying, I guess, but the hotel only had a few people, and we got stuck upstairs in a small boxy area where 2 women chain smoked the whole time. Ugh. (One reviewer mentioned the bright light coming through the curtains--we dealt with this by putting a throw blanket over the door). Definitely

Not even 20 minutes with our stay you could tell the room is old and rusty. In the first glance at the hotel from the outside it seemed like a comfortable stay, to my surprise it was worst than I imagined. The room had no working phone to call the front desk, no extra linen or towels, no actual lock in the inside just the chain to hold the door from opening all the way, and the carpet was wet near the AC. The tv was out of service and the bed felt like a rock once you tried to relax. The walls and bathroom were dirty and looked run down. When I went back down stairs to get a full refund for not

When I pulled back the bedspread, the linens were dirty and wrinkled and the blanket was balled up at the foot of the bed. The towels were stained with large blue spots. I went to the front desk to ask for a linen change, but no-one was there. I got sheets from the laundry room and changed my own sheets.
There is a window air unit that does not fit the window. They attempted to cover the space above the air unit by placing a cheap picture IN the window, but there are

If I had to do it again, I'd go somewhere else.
Good:
- Nice location in downtown Sonora
- Above-average breakfast
-
Bad:
- Musty room
- Ancient, uncomfortable mattress
- Few, weirdly-placed outlets
- Hotel is a dank, dark maze
- The WiFi, for which the wrong password is currently being provided, is weak
- Many maintenance issues, including missing lightbulbs, dead batteries in the remote, broken ice machine, and NO TOILET SEAT.
The hotel is pretty bad, but I have to say at least the manager is great. He fixed every single issue himself because he's the only one there. It seems

I recently booked a room at this wonderful place, for my beau's birthday. He loves unique places, and the pictures and good reviews were why I selected it. It did not disappoint!
When we checked in, we were greeted by the friendliest people, and they made sure we got a great room. The room I had asked for was ready, but they actually suggested another (and I let by guy select it). He chose the one they recommended, because of the simple decor (I was looking at the King room, he chose the Queen room).
The room we had was on the side of the building, so we did not hear much with respect

Going to Sonora's Washington Street is like taking a step back in time by 120 years, while keeping your other foot in the present time. The Gunn House Hotel takes you a step further than that.
The Gunn House was built in 1850 as the first 2-story building in Sonora. Architecturally, it's a normal hotel only as you see it from the street. Beyond that, its layout on all three levels is unusual: hidden hallways, arts and crafts that the proprietors probably bought at art & wine festivals around the state, lots of places to sit and chat with the love of your life, nice view from

"The Gunn House is my favorite hotel!" proclaimed my 7 year-old little boy following a three-night stay in historic Sonora in California's Gold Country.
Was it the coziness of the room, the adorable Gund teddy bears adorning each bed, the down-home country feel with rocking chairs on the porch?
It was all of that and more.
