We are a complete automotive shop located in Fort Collins, Colorado and will undertake most Fort Collins auto repair and maintenance required for your car or light/medium-duty truck. Automotive services include routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake checks. All of our parts and services meet or exceed the Original Equipment Manufacturer standards.
It's my habit to get competing estimates from auto repair shops when faced with a repair that I know is going to cost a lot of money. Performance Tune has won my last three "estimation contests" - by not only coming in at the lowest price, but also providing full and detailed explanations about what needs to be done and what various repair options are.
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our team! We are looking for someone who shares our passion and energy for delivering excellent customer service. ASE certifications, computer skills, diagnostic skills, drivability, and alignment experience are pluses. 5+ years experience desired.
Performance Tune is owned and operated by Pat and Kathy Schnaidt. They purchased the shop in 2015 from Rob and Anne Cagen, who opened the shop in 1991 to provide personal service for you by having a clean, sunny, well-equipped facility to service your vehicles. The owners are on site and you can ask for help with your automotive problem at any time.

Anti-maskers. If you care at all about taking precautions, avoid Performance Tune Auto. The lobby is tiny, no attempts at social distancing. At both drop off and pick up, employees behind the desk were maskless. I asked and they said they "don't believe in them but will wear one if a customers asks." Well thanks but you're already inside this small space without a mask so...Do they think the pandemic is over? Do they not care about asymptomatic spread or public health?
Also, front desk was very aloof even before I asked about their lack of mask. I will not be returning.

I've taken my car in twice, and twice the issues failed to be resolved. They had me spending $700+ on a new battery, alternator belt, then the alternator itself and now I'm unable to make it to work to earn another paycheck and a half to give to them because my car is on the side of the road. Their mechanic doesn't know how to work on Subarus at the very least.

Jeff and Dane saved us. Drove 1200 miles without A/c in 90 degree heat. Long story short our Ohio mechanic diagnostic test concluded a high pressure line needed to be replaced. We couldn't locate the part prior to our trip but had one delivered to Fort Collins. We called Performance Tune Auto Repair to see if they could squeeze our car in same day as every other shop said 7-10 days. They got us in Dane worked his lunch and Jeff made everything happen. They ran a new diagnostic test and found that the issue was not the line but a couple of valves. They had them replaced and our vehicle was

The lovely boyfriend of mine took our car in for brake pad changes as our old ones needed to be replaced after 46,000 miles. My boyfriend had nothing but great things to say about this spot. The mechanics are very helpful and knowledgeable, prices are reasonable and I think we've found our go to auto repair shop in foco. Had our brakes changed in less than half a day. This isn't much of review at this point, since all I went here for was an emissions test for my old, VW diesel Passat wagon. Having said that though, I will give them a try when my car next needs some work.
The price for the emissions test was the same as the other places in FoCo I called, so I knew I wasn't being ripped-off. I went to this shop, mostly because it's close to my house, and they have pretty good reviews.
Pros:
The shop is in a good location for people living/working on the W side of FoCo.
The staff was nice to me, not that would be any reason not to be.

I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota and have owned it for 15 years. Ive done all internal and cosmetic repairs myself, due to accessibility to a shop. I recently moved to Fort Collins in the middle of 2017. My truck randomly lost oil pressure one morning on the way to work and I live close to this shop, so I decided to take it to performance tune.
The shop does absolutely incredible work. They quoted me for a price and the final charge was only $20 extra due to a necessary oil change, which they called and asked me about.

My car broke down late night while dropping my daughter off at CSU. Called first thing in the morning (Mike actually answered about 5 minutes before open time) and was told that they would squeeze me into the schedule. I had my car towed to the shop (close to campus) by my insurance company.

My wife and I just moved here from Oregon, and have been looking for an honest local mechanic. Well, looks like we've lucked out! I love a place where I can go and not be embarrassed about how little I know about cars. At Performance Tune they treat you with respect and are honest about the work they do. I would rather pay these guys to do an oil change than one of the quick jiffy lube places. Just had all my fluids changed here as well, and my car is running smoother than it was before. We definitely intend to use this place for all of our cars' needs.

Very Disappointed by this garage. The transmission in my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 was rebuilt by Performance Auto Tune at a cost of $1200. Fifth gear was grinding after the vehicle was returned to me. I brought this issue to the attention of the Owner, Rob. He advised me the wrong oil was put into the transmission after the rebuild. They changed the oil. One year and a week after the transmission was rebuilt it failed. I had no forward gears. I was also in Downtown Denver. The tow bill which I have not recovered was $472. It took three weeks for Performance Tune to return the vehicle to me

Needed a quick oil change and wanted a second opinion on what is wrong with my Toyota Tacoma. Read a few Yelp reviews and decided to try this place. Great choice. They squeezed me in for an oil change and gave some great advice on my truck. I met the owner and he told me about how they really pride themselves on being thorough, honest, and cost efficient for the customer. I had my dog with me because we had to visit the CSU vet that morning, and they were completely fine with me bringing my dog in while we waited for the truck to be finished. Not only are the people great but they provide a diagnostic on what's wrong with your car that you can trust.
They pay their employees a salary, not a commission like almost every other shop does.
So this means all they care about is providing the best service rather than finding new things to charge you for.
The owners are great too and will give you a personal ride to where you need while they work on you car.
Highly recommend them.
