Almost Perfect Construction

Owner Joe Zakes began his career in 1971 doing new construction including framing and trim. After a few years he moved into the remodeling field and founded Almost Perfect Construction in 1980. After time spent learning both the construction and management aspects of the business, Joe was ready to expand the company in the early 90s as the Austin economy rebounded.

Our work can transform your home into a beautiful new living space. If your project is an interior renovation, outdoor construction, or both, we're your remodelers. In addition, we oversee our projects with prompt professionalism. From estimates, design, construction supervision to punch lists and clean-up, we provide full-service project management.

The first step usually consists of a site visit so we can meet and I can take a look at your project. This is followed with a ballpark estimate. After the scope of the project and budget has been established, work begins on the final design, bid, contract, and construction schedule. After the contract is accepted, we acquire the necessary building permits and construction begins.

Company practices on every job include donating reusable materials to Habitat for Humanity and recycling whenever possible, including scrap metal and cardboard packing material. We also make annual donations to American Forests and Austin Treefolks to plant new trees to offset our need for lumber. We have been members of the Austin Green Building Program for over 10 years.

I have never received anything less than stellar performance from Almost Perfect Construction. The work has always been on time, on budget (unlike some other contractors I have used), done in a professional manner, and ALWAYS of the highest quality. In addition, the workmen have always been virtually invisible - I work at home, and I have never been distracted by the construction going on around me.
