Thank you for your interest in learning more about me. My name is George Grady Tucker IV. I go by Skip. I have over 20 years of experience running my own full service construction company. I have been involved in every aspect of building a home. From digging the footers to installing the shingles, finishing the sheetrock to helping a customer pick out that one of a kind color for the master bath.
Your home is your most expensive asset and the most neglected. The family car is on a regular maintenance program. Every few months oil is changed, belts are tightened, brake pads are checked etc. Many of the items are checked to prevent future problems. A timing belt is checked for wear and is changed if found defective.
Exterior (wall claddings, flashing, trim, entry doors, garage doors and openers, windows, decks, steps, porches, railings; driveways, walkways, retaining walls, vegetation, grading and drainage with respect only to their effect on the condition of the home). Roofing (roof coverings, roof drainage systems, flashings, skylights, chimneys and roof penetrations).
A WDIR or wood destroying insect report inspects for termites, powder post beetles, carpenter ants and any other insects that may damage the wood structure of your home. Sometimes these reports are called pest inspections and that has led to some confusion. A WDIR only checks for wood destroying insects.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas. It forms naturally from the decay of radioactive elements, such as uranium, which are found in different amounts in the ground throughout our state and the world. Radon moves through the ground into the air and water. Radon is everywhere. It is at a normally low level in the outdoor air and the water in streams and rivers.

Skip wasn’t the most responsive in my case, but he was responsive enough. Where he really blew it out of the water was during the important part, the inspection. He was thorough, well organized, detailed, and helpful in his investigation. He took tons of pictures and walked through every issue afterwards. He was the best value and likely the best overall.

I was given two home inspector referrals by my realtor. Unfortunately neither had reviews to check the quality of their work. I found Skip on Google and he was the only local home inspector who had a number of excellent reviews. I highly recommend Skip Tucker/Spire Home Inspections. Skip inspected a log cabin we recently purchased. It was only 2 years old so I thought he would find little or nothing to report. Fantastic! Skip came out the day after I called to do an expedited job. He showed up early and was able to give me a great rundown of trouble spots immediately.
Definitely thorough! He'd been there over 3 hours when I went to make sure all was okay and he was under the house in the most scary looking of places checking every inch out.

Skip was a wonderful person to deal with! Was extremely polite, calming, and professional. He took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns without making us feel that we had a house that was falling down all around us (Any home inspection can be overwhelming). He caught everything in the home and helped us know how to proceed forward even though we were doing everything from hours away. I would highly highly recommend him to anyone!
