Dr.Henry Boucher and his team at Medstar Union Memorial Orthopaedic Hospital in Baltimore, MD, are to be commended on their expertise and patient care. On September 29, 2020; Dr. Boucher and his team performed a double knee replacement for me. A bit nervous, they prepared me for the surgery. After I had surgery, I spent a couple of days in the hospital had physical therapy. On October 2, I was home and attending Medstar Orthopaedic physical therapy in Waugh Chapel (Gambrills, MD). This is a review of the hospital - the specialties and doctors are AMAZING. Nothing else to say except this is a 3rd world hospital based on staff, basic patient care, facilities, administration and cleanliness. The cost of having world class doctors (my experience is hand care and orthopedics) is having to deal with this mess of a hospital. I have no regrets - the doctors and their immediate staff are second to none but I wish the hospital would show them respect. If you are admitted you need a round the clock advocate - do not stay here unless you have someone that can advocate for you 24x7.

If you can avoid it, don't have surgery at this hospital. So glad my surgeon was fantastic, because the other doctors on the surgical team were terrible. I had problems breathing after surgery. They treated me as if I did something wrong. They never even told my husband, who was waiting in the waiting room, that I was in distress. He sat there waiting until everyone was gone before someone finally told him he could come see me to find out what had happened.
