Starting from nothing, Conrad Westergren built a small shoe repair shop on 34th Avenue which, through years of hard work and a loyal customer base, became the Nokomis Shoe Shop.
Although we no longer do shoe repair, our business has grown and today we carry a wide selection of brand name work and outdoor footwear, clothing, and other unique gift items. As our customers know, we're a one-of-a-kind operation. In addition to our two locations, we also operate two fully-loaded mobile shoe trucks that service numerous on-site customers.

We offer footwear that provides maximum performance and protection in your work environment. We stock all types of safety footwear, including Slip Resistant, Puncture Resistant, Electrical Hazard, Static Dissipating, Metatarsal Guard & Waterproof. Plus, we offer mobile shoe and boot services. We have two trucks fully loaded with footwear from manufactures such as Timberland Pro, Keen Utility, Danner, Thorogood & Rocky.

Outstanding staff with competitive pricing and a great selection.
Just picked up a pair of Bikenstocks. The knowledgeable staff were very helpful and they even had a resident "Birkenstock expert" (I didn't get her name) who helped me find the perfect size. I left the store very satisfied with my purchase.

Always had a great experience here. Good selection and knowledgeable staff. They will ship stuff up from the other location if they have it in stock. Also the one time I had an issue with boots (not their fault, my pair leaked) they just ordered up a pair for me and had them waiting to swap out. Great place!

I ordered a pair of New Balance shoes from their South Minneapolis store. They didn't have my size so they offered to have them transferred from their Crystal store. They promised I could pick them up the following Tuesday and they would call me upon arrival as I paid for them in-store. Fast forward to Tuesday, no call. When I stopped in to pick them up at the end of the day, they weren't there and I was told the owner took the day off and transfers weren't completed. They then told me I had to wait another full week. Sorry is all I was told so I returned them and will be ordering

Stopped in today after searching for a pair of Ecco boots to replace the ones I've worn for 15+ years. I was kind of surprised that they had better prices than the Ecco website??? We dealt with Oliver, tall lanky young man. Very knowledgeable, and very helpful. Great experience with Oliver. Also ordered a slip-on pair of Dansko's, again, great pricing. It is wonderful to support a small, local store. I get tired of shopping online where you have no interaction with a person whatsoever.

Even though we walked here, there is a nice parking lot next to it. We walked in and the young man at the front helped us right away. He was so very knowledgeable on shoes for feet with high arches. While he was helping my fiance out, I snapped the picture here of the Chaco brand sandals. My fiance was able to try a few different shoes on. We didn't end up buying any on this day, but we'll be back. The employee wasn't pushy, he was very kind and talked with us about more of the shoes they offer.

Really fantastic small local shop in Minneapolis! This is a great place to come for shoes that are actually good for your feet, something a lot of shoe stores don't focus on. Love that it's close enough to walk to from my house, it's in a great location close to restaurants and other small shops. Definitely recommend!

Loved this place! I've been looking for American made shoes for awhile, but didn't want to buy online. I like to try on the shoes to make sure they fit. Went in there today and the guy working the counter brought me right to the New Balances. He knew which ones were assembled and made state side. A plus in my book and I will be back for sure. It's also a beautiful clean shop and has tons of different shoes and styles to check out.

Just before 7:00 PM on Nov. 13 I arrived at your Minneapolis store and opened the door to a young man vacuuming. I made my way to the back counter and a young woman with reddish hair was quickly passing behind the counter heading somewhere in back and paused to say hello. I turned to go back and look at the boots (not my first time here) and had to negotiate my way around a young man and woman who were deep in conversation. The only reason I could tell they worked there is because they didn't have winter coats on. They continued their conversation as I made my way around them.

I needed dressier shoes as I packed two left shoes on my trip to MN. Nice they were open early in the morning before I had my meeting. Also bought a sale priced running shoe I found on their sales rack. My shoe salesman was very nice and said we have shoes like that when he looked down at my two left shoes I was wearing.

It's hard to beat Nokomis Shoes. Great service, employees who actually know what they are talking about... AND it's a local business! What's not to love?
They have an interesting selection. Some good, some unusual. They have one of the biggest inventory of smartwool that I've ever seen. Nokomis is also my go-to store for winter weather boots and socks. Not sure this would be my first stop for really hip, fashion conscious footwear. But, they fill their niche perfectly, and I love them for it.

Keep your money local, support a great business that cares about their customers AND get a great shoe (they have great winter clothes for men and women, too!). We drove by this place a hundred times before finally stopping in. My wife wanted a pair of Merrell boots she saw on Nordstrom and Amazon.com. Much to our surprise, Nokomis Shoe had them AND they were $30 less!!! Helpful, friendly service and great selection of comfort, sports and winter shoes and boots, as well as Smartwool products and much more. Highly recommended.

Great place to go for a pair of Keen's. Their staff are experts so you can get all your questions answered before buying! They also have a great selection of winter boots, hiking, running, trail running shoes. We often pick up products to protect our boots and shoes because it is so handy when you need to waterproof some new shoes but ran out of the spray.
They also have the gear for winter coming up with Smartwool socks, hats, gloves, etc.
A good spot to pick up Nokomis, Lake Nokomis, etc branded shirts and sweatshirts as well as gifts for babies and little kids. We've picked up more

My favorite shoe shop! The staff is always cheerful, and I agree it is a destination, and sometimes an adventure (tower of boots)!
I do like the extras that they carry, the cards & little gifts.
Its been in the neighborhood since 1931, and they continue to embrace the neighborhood by carrying books written by neighbors, as well as some jewelry made by locals.

I like that they have stuck to a few brands, and not tried to be DSW, or Famous Footware.
Its a tie for me between Schulers and Nokomis Shoes, I seem to end up at Schulers if I happen to be by one, versus it being a destination, whereas Nokomis Shoes is a destination.
