Coming to therapy is the first step in a hopeful direction. People come to therapy for many different reasons, at least part of which is an attempt to change something. If pain is one side of a coin and hope is the other, then the flip of a coin is choosing therapy. Change can be a scary word that snaps us right out of our comfort zone.
While it's true that therapy is not always an easy endeavor, it is meant to provide relief and healing. Therapy at its best is a partnership, two minds in open communication pursuing a clear goal. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization. EMDR is a type of therapy developed by Francine Shapiro that works directly with trauma and the triggers associated with traumatic experiences.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing child, adult and family psychotherapy since 2004. My experience as a therapist has focused on work with kids, individuals, parents and families, encompassing issues that impact relationships.
Some of the issues I have worked with include trauma, anxiety, depression, communication, self-esteem, grief, loss, acting out behaviors, academic issues, family conflict, substance abuse, anger management, relational boundaries, identity concerns, experiences of racism and the coming out process.Although this is not a complete list, the theme of therapy often centers around difficulty in relationships with others or with one's self.

I provide a free phone consultation to see if my services and fees are the right fit for you. Please call for my current fee. Sessions are a full 60 minutes in length. For veterans who have served within the last 12 years, I have lower fee options based on availability. I do not accept insurance at this time.
A day in life is a series of interactions and reactions, or behaviors that can tell us what we don't want to know, I am unhappy, sad, depressed, anxious, ect. My approach in working with adults is a collaborative process in which we look at difficulties that come up in relationships and try to understand their origins.
Family therapy can be helpful when family relationships and communication becomes stressed. There are many reasons why families become stressed, but the emotional motivations for family conflict often center on the need for closeness and/or the need for independence. Past childhood experiences can influence how we parent, how we experience being part of a family, and how we think about our kids.

Kimbo is an exceptional clinician. She's a dedicated, compassionate practitioner who's especially skilled in using EMDR to address PTSD, either from present-day or childhood issues, and gets results even on a short-term basis. Her curiosity, openness, and sense of humor make her easy to talk to about very difficult subjects. I highly recommend working with her!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Kimbo is amazing... extraordinary. She's attentive, highly skilled in active, compassionate listening, respectful, and sensitive. She exceeded my expectations at getting to the heart of the matter and helping me deal with the Complex PTSD I was experiencing with my significant other. BTW, I am a member of the LGBTQ community.
She is trained in EMDR and is superb at it. She's highly competent, unsurpassed professionalism, ethical, and compellingly respectful and wise. I've have experience with different therapist over the past 20 years and she is probably the best
