Services
At Essex Animal Hospital, we are fully equipped to take on any problem or concern you may have about your pet. Dr. Ann and Charles Dolin purchased Essex Animal Hospital in 1995 and have dramatically increased the size of their practice and scope of services provided to clients. We are proud to now have the highest quality veterinary medicine available in the Bloomfield, NJ area, and we provide it in a stress-free environment.
At Essex Animal Hospital, we understand that your pet is an important part of your family. Our Bloomfield veterinary team strives to treat your pet with the same care and compassion with which we treat our own pets. We have proudly served the Bloomfield community for over 25 years, providing everything your pet needs to live their happiest, healthiest life by your side.
A commonly overlooked aspect of pet health is oral hygiene, with untreated dental disease inducing pain and inhibiting regular eating habits, not to mention the drastic effects that oral bacteria can do to your pet's internal organs if it permeates into their bloodstream. If your furry companion is experiencing persistent bad breath, this is an indicator that oral disease is already present.
When your pet is feeling under the weather, it's hard to know what exactly is making them feel sick. At Essex Animal Hospital, we help you take the guesswork out of caring for your pet with our diagnostic services. We offer both digital radiography and laboratory services in-house, which means you don't have to make another trip when your pet is feeling unwell.
Occasionally, specific medical conditions will arise in which your pet may require a specialist for examination. We maintain a close working relationship with many board-certified veterinary specialists in the local area. At Essex Animal Hospital, referrals to specialists in cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology, dentistry and surgery can be made whenever your pet's health requires the need for more specialized care.

Maybe try them after the pandemic. I got to my appointment early, checked in, Then 15 mins after the appointment time, had to call again to get seen. They came out, took my dog in, called to charge my cc $400, then gave my dog back. No call from the doctor, no apology for being late, no explanation about how my dog is doing.

I have just started with this clinic. All of the staff were responsive, and Denisha and Dr. Gustavson took great care of my dog Amato on this first visit, giving him two shots and eyedrops, holding him firmly on the table. I am glad to have joined this animal hospital!

Essex Animal Hospital is great. Not only is the service excellent and efficient but the staff is extremely friendly as well. I love that they love there jobs whole heartedly because it makes for a pleasurable experience. My dog hates the doctor but by time she realizes what’s happening we’re walking out the door.

I bring both my cats here and the best recommendation is the reaction of my cats! They are always calm, never struggle or resist any of the doctors snd even rub against them to be scratched behind the ears!
If your animal likes them you are in good hands.

My husband and I used to bring our boy Bubba here when we lived in Bloomfield. He was 8 weeks old, 9 lbs. when we first got him and he just loooved coming here. We boarded him here many times due to his cherry eye. At other doggie daycare places we’d pick him up and his eyes were always scratched out and I’d be so upset. At Essex we’d hand him off and one second later he forgot all about us! He cheerfully walked in and the staff would allow him to walk around and play behind the desk. Not sure they remember us (Bubba is almost 6 now) but we remember you!
