The VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) sponsors an annual Essay Contest called the "Patriot's Pen" for Middle Schoolers, and an Audio Essay competition called the "Voice of Democracy" for High School Students. Both competitions offer the potential for substantial scholarships and prizes. Selection and awards begin at the local VFW Post level.

Appoquinimink High School is an amazing new school, built in a community of strong parent involvement and rich local traditions. We are proud to have a talented and dedicated staff who works hard to provide students with engaging and challenging lessons, a supportive and safe school environment, and diverse extra-curricular activities.
Thank you for considering one of our facilities for your community event. The Appoquinimink School District (hereafter referred to as ASD) uses a web-based application to manage rental requests. In the event of bad weather or an emergency, the district may cancel or change the date of the event. If the ASD incurs any cost due to the event, the cost will be passed on to the individual/group/organization who rented the facility(ies).
The Appoquinimink Foundation provides a way for caring individuals and organizations to make private, tax-deductible contributions in support of education.
Our non-profit Foundation works to generate and distribute resources to the District that enrich, maintain and expand the programs needed to meet the District's stated mission of providing a world-class education where students gain the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes needed to contribute and flourish in a global society.We generate private support for priority projects where tax dollars are not available.

The Appoquinimink School District will provide opportunities and resources in a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment for all students to acquire and develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes to be responsible and contributing members in a rapidly changing and complex global society.
I would first like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have spent the last 12 years serving as a building administrator in the Christina School District, and more specifically the last 3 years as Principal at Christiana High School.
I had a wonderful experience working to serve students while at Christiana High School, and am looking forward to developing relationships with the students and families we serve in the Appoquinimink School District.
