Archmere Academy
At Archmere, students take ownership of their potential with the support of our robust community. Since opening the doors in 1932, Archmere's rigorous college-preparatory academic program cultivates empathetic leaders prepared for every good work. As a result, Archmere Academy students challenge themselves, think critically, and discover their greatest potential.

Archmere's academic curriculum sets us apart. Our liberal arts curriculum challenges all students to advance their critical thinking, sharpen their academic skills, take ownership of their learning potential, and advocate for their own educational goals.

Archmere Academy is a Catholic, Norbertine college preparatory school, valuing community, respect, zeal, reverence, and wisdom. Nurturing body and soul, mind and heart, Archmere focuses on the whole person through academic excellence, faith reflection, social development, and service to others. Inspired by its heritage, Archmere cultivates empathetic leaders- young men and women prepared for every good work.
Built from 1916 to 1918, Archmere "Arch to the Sea, " was the home of John J. Raskob, Helen Springer Green, and their 13 children before becoming Archmere Academy in 1932. When the school was founded, the mansion house served as the main schoolhouse, as well as boarding for students. Today, this building known as The Patio is home to concerts, educational programming, events, and so much more.
Archmere Academy was founded by the Norbertine Fathers in 1932. Archmere has a relationship with the Norbertine community at Daylesford Abbey in Paoli, Pennsylvania. The Norbertine Order was founded in 1121 by St. Norbert in the French village of Premontre. The Norbertine charism is one of common life, prayer and ministry marked by fostering peace, healing and reconciliation.
Tradition evokes emotion. Archmere's long history of accomplishments as well as the promise of future inspirational moments are incentives for those of us who are a part of the Academy's community to remain committed and to encourage others to become acquainted with the school. Join me in service to our students, making the Archmere experience meet and exceed their expectations.
Saint Norbert's vision was to give people a "sense of place" and belonging, and the Archmere Academy community seeks to embody that vision. Archmere embraces this tradition wholeheartedly, recognizing that what inspires its students most to achieve are the relationships they form while they are here.

Absolutely disappointing college placement assistance. We have now had to outwork the placement staff, twice to get colleges to review decisions for two of our children. We achieved positive outcomes each time - after the staff at Archmere declined to take the actions we asked them to take. If you want something done, do it yourself was the lesson we learned. I am still waiting for the Headmaster Michael Marinellito return a call from 4 days ago. I hope he reads this.

Archmere Academy is an amazing college prep high school. The challenging curriculum, supportive staff and amazing facilities are a gift to all who attend this school. Available financial aid helped make attending this school a reality for me. Such an amazing place.

Another business that has a historical marker out front. Archmere's marker reads:

"This was once the home of John Jakob Raskob (1879-1950), financier, DuPont and General Motors executive, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and developer of the Empire State Building. Known as "The Patio," his palatial home was constructed 1916-18 in a style befitting his position in Wilmington society. The name "Archmere" was given to the surrounding estate because of the natural arch the trees formed over the Delaware River vista. This has been home to Archmere Academy
