Services
The legend lives on to this day on the majestic land that is now Burntshirt Vineyards, a family-run wine company with a dedication to craftsmanship spanning 80 years.

What started primarily as a grape growing operation evolved into the idea of a winery when owners Lemuel and Sandra Oates, recognizing the quality of their fruit and the opportunity to be a part of the thriving North Carolina wine industry, decided to embark on production of their own premium, estate wines.
Wine and Gift Certificates are available for purchase at the vineyard and in our online store. Note: You must be 21 years old to purchase wine. A signature is required upon delivery. All shipments are via UPS ground. We suggest you ship to a business if you will not be home to accept the package during the day.
We invite you to join our Silver or Gold Wine Club, or to give a club membership as a special gift to another wine lover in your life. Being a Burntshirt Wine Club Member helps you keep our award-winning wines in your cellar, gives you the opportunity to receive our limited production wines and pre-release wines.
At the heart of Burntshirt are two vineyards situated on both sides of the Eastern Continental Divide on the Crest of the Blue Ridge. Our Hendersonville location includes the vineyards and winery, offering daily tours and tastings, private event space, and on-site accommodations. The winery features equipment that allows us to produce all of our wine minutes from where the grapes are grown on our two estate vineyards in Henderson County.
Located on the Western edge of Lake Lure, just up the street from Chimney Rock State Park's entrance, and directly below the popular local event spot The Gathering Place, our Tasting Room & Bistro is a must see addition to Chimney Rock Village. If you're visiting the village of Chimney Rock, be sure to stop into the Burntshirt Vineyards Tasting Room and Bistro!

Quaint little vineyard with a gorgeous view. Enjoyed their selection of wines very much. My wife and I did a sampling selection and received 5 samples of wines (generous pours) a non-gmo brownie, and a complimentary stemless wine glass.

This was our second time visiting on our yearly trip to the mountains from Florida. The place is beautiful, especially the Christmas decorations. We did the wine tasting and had the absolute pleasure of having this fun experience with Annie. She was VERY busy as the place was packed. She managed to engage and amuse us in the limited time she had as she was serving multiple guests at the bar. The wine is fabulous and we brought bottles home with us. The food was very good. We will be back next year and hope that we see Annie again. Merry Christmas!!
Chimney Rock location.

Didn't get the full experience due to a private event. Most of the patrons sat outside on a cold, Saturday afternoon. Patio lacked the necessary heaters. Tasting room overshadowed by excessive retail space. Fortunately, we hung by the bar. The five wines I sampled were terrific. Wine by the glass pours were very generous. We came for the wine. 5 stars. Experience 4 stars. Round up to 5.

My significant other and I came here to get their wine sampler and let me tell you, I was deeply impressed. Unlike literally everything else that I have found in Asheville, this place was beyond reasonably priced and offered a quality that I don't think I have experienced from a local winery since I started drinking, long before I knew what quality was. I have recommended this to friends and family when they visit and will continue to do so

There are not enough words to truly express how wonder Marci was. Our wedding day wouldn’t have been perfect without her! The planning, communication, and attention to detail is better than I could have ever expected. If you’re getting married and are looking for an effortless scenario, Marci and Burntshirt vineyards is your place.
I can’t say thanks enough

What a great experience we have had planning my son and his future bride’s wedding at the beautiful Burntshirt Vineyards in Hendersonville. From the initial interest phone call all the way through the specific details of the day, Marci has been a true delight to work with. Her vast knowledge, ease in conversation and get it done mindset, has made our time of planning so enjoyable and truly assured that the big day will go smoothly and beautifully. I highly recommend this great place. You will be extremely glad you chose Burntshirt for your event.

Great vineyard but the tasting room was very crowded! Maybe it will be better once the new restaurant and tasting room is completed in 2022!

This place a wonderland! Beautiful grounds, good wine and friendly people.
Update Aug 2021 - this place has become popular and thus can be rather crowded now. Their only nod to Covid I can see is they have a wine flight of 5 wines with about 2 oz pours you can order and take to an outside table instead of standing at the counter to do tastings. It is more expensive of course. It would also be great if they would add a small container of water and some wine crackers to have between wines though. Still a beautiful place and they are building a restaurant so it will get even more crowded I am sure

The staff were very friendly and accommodating! He even went to the trouble of writing us a list of local restaurants to try out! The wines were very good in my opinion. Mild flavored options that would pair well with meals and not overpower your entree. Relaxing atmosphere. Nothing pretentious or “putting on airs” as one reviewer stated. This was a welcoming and inviting staff and the customers were a varied group. I would love to come back if I’m the area!

This is a very fun place. Pull up a chair on one of the patios, enjoy some live music at one of the two locations within the vineyard. You can taste any of many wines made, purchase wine or other items you may like, enjoy some snacks from the food truck or enjoy one of the many activities they offer. This is a venue for relaxing, peace and quiet or groups to enjoy each other. Cheers!
