The Caribbean Market is located on the lower level of a modern, multi-story commercial building in Takoma Park, Maryland. It was first established in 1995 with the idea of providing foods familiar to many residents from the Caribbean region, and others fascinated with foods of the Caribbean. Enjoy an array of well-stocked West Indian foods and products made available to the delight of patrons, some of whom have shopped with TCM since the beginning!
Services
Products manufactured in Guyana continue to improve steadily, as new market opportunities become available. But instances where persons tend to find difficulty with Guyanese producers, Dave Narine, a consummate entrepreneur, sees a golden opportunity to distribute Guyanese and West Indian products across the United States (U.S).
Select your choice of teas good for detoxing, cold and flu, diabetic concerns or just for relaxation. Also enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and much more. Visit our resident Butcher for your choice of seafood, goat meat, beef, pork, chicken and other specialty choices. Cook with seasonings created from various Caribbean regions.

So grateful that my Jamaican coworker introduced me to this place. Don't let the small amount of storefront glass fool you. This market is large and very well stocked. I love the variety of fresh vegetables and I purchased the best tasting Curry powder I have ever had; and it is proudly made in Jamaica.
Such an amazing array of meats and animal products. I'm a fiend for some oxtail and the cooler case had a mountain of them.
Sorry to say I cannot find the photographs I took while shopping there.

All tasty things Caribbean! If you're from any of the islands and you love the cuisine, snacks, drinks then you will love this place. There's also a kitchen where you can buy oxtails, curry chicken, saltfish ( many more cooked dishes) ready to eat. There's no dine-in so you'll have to take it to go (I actually never make it out of the parking lot without eating something.)

It's way too expensive. Especially the cook food. Why is 1 basketball by itself $4.50 then you have to buy the salt fish separately, who's is $12 or $13 a lb. I didn't about $12 for one bake and salt fish. That is ridiculous. Ox tail is $12 a lb... why? I go to savanna which is an African grocery store in gaithersburg where you can get the same meat for half the price.

New transplant from Atlanta. Glad to find this place. Great selection. Awesome meat and fish selection. The patties were good, better than most, but honestly have had greater. The other pastry items in the bakery were a disappointment. If they are not a great seller then mgmt should think about discontinuing because they look and taste like no thought or care was put into the making of them. I love fresh made authentic WI bakery items ! The pineapple tarts, yuck! The dry goods selection was fantastic.

This my first visit to this shop. It was recommended by a coworker, so we decided to meet there. I was pleased to see patron's access being limited. The line seemed to go quickly as persons exited more were allowed in.
Overall, I thought the store had a great variety of items including fresh produce. This was the first time, I'd seen dasheen in a store in Maryland.
They also had a variety of fresh and salted meats and frozen fish. The price of some meat was higher than usual (direct impact of costs related to COVID-19).
There was prompt service at the butcher counter and the area

My update is concerning the price for the food, which by the way is still scrumptious AF (this coming from a Jamaican). Since my last review the owners have changed the pricing for the hot bar to per lb, which is great if you are looking for a snack but terrible if you like the heavy handedness of when Aunt Shelly serves up some Oxtail.
Chuh!
Also in this #MeToo era can someone tell the creepy Butcha-mon fi put 'im eye back inna 'ihm head. Cat calling and ogling customers is soo played out.

Wandered into this store and to my delight found Marmite, digestive cookies and some delicious curry powder, three things I'd been looking for. Prices okay to high. They have a lot of spices here and a lot of Janaican products. The digestive biscuits were made in Jamaica, as were several other products, including a take out counter which I didn't try. Staff not very friendly though, and exit door was jammed half open/closed but loads of parking as it's in the mini mall. Also wheelchair accessible if you park on lower level and avoid jammed door.

I love Caribbean market. The hot food section is great and taste like home. It is a little on the expensive side. I love getting bake and salt fish and doubles with peppa. They have so many options available and pastries too.
The market section is great for items such as tennis roll, frozen roti skins, bun, cheese etc. I mean they have everything you could need and it smells like a Caribbean market would smell lol.
Meat, meat and more meat. Oxtails, pig feet and even cow blood for the black pudding loves ... yum!!!
If you want to find something your granny used to use in the Caribbean you

I didn't plan to go to the Caribbean Market but we saw the sign as we were driving along and decided to pop in. Before I could even walk in, I could hear old school reggae and calypso music--that definitely put me in a good mood. They have different types of meat and produce; also, on the far right side of the store, they have Caribbean drinks (malt, ting, Irish moss, carrot juice, etc.). I just walked around and reminisced about the good old days--eating good Caribbean food that my mom used to make. I had major flashback when I saw Golden Ray. Caribbean cooking just isn't the same without

Even though I was able to find some of my Ginger Tea/Candy & Ting Drinks, the customer service was horrible...specifically the hot food section. With the many signs posted saying know what you want before you get in line, gives off an element that friendly or helpful service was not imminent. Good luck trying to ask someone for some insight, as they expect you to know...why?
After I got my goodies, I decided to treat my WomanBaby with her favorite meat dish, Oxtails. The hot bar is a compact serving station with a good size of salavating selections, yet, the employees behind the bar/counter

After reading the mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to really expect. I wanted to buy a few pounds of ox tails, but I was worried that maybe the inventory was low or I wouldn't find everything I needed.
The store is located in a cute brick plaza, with plenty of parking. Christmas music was playing at the front door.
I can't speak to the hot food carry out, but it sure smelled good. I made a beeline straight for the meat section, which was filled to the brim even though the store was busy. There were at least four guys behind the counter helping patrons or butchering.
