An's Dry Cleaning
Voted Best Gelato in San Diego, An's Dry Cleaning serves high quality, small batch gelato that's always made from scratch using fresh, local ingredients. An's Dry Cleaning is open Sun - Wed 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Thu - Sat 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM. We are located in San Diego's North Park district on the corner of 30th and Adams Avenue.

We are serving our award winning gelato and have begun our famous flavor tours for everyone that enters our shop. Then visit us in store for contactless pick up.
Services
If you haven't been to An's before, we start every visit off by offering to take guests through a complete flavor tour of all our 'fabrics' on the menu. While we cannot do our tastings right now, we'd still like to give you the experience. A flavor from our new Del Mar location, Newsboy is a vanilla gelato with a roasted and candied macadamia nut praline.
After a year of searching for the perfect location for a gelato shop, we found our space in a historic building, built in 1934, on Adams Ave. We immediately fell in love with the location, the community, and the people. But changing the name of an old establishment, in an even older building, didn't feel right.

Solid place to get some ice cream. I read another Yelper who described this place like a speakeasy for ice cream, which is totally spot on. From the outside, you would see a dry cleaner type of establishment, however, they have an A-frame outside their place with their flavors.

Street parking is available. There are some metered parking or if you get lucky, there are free two hour street parking across the street. Be sure you pay your metered parking. I saw the police write tickets for folx who parked at an expired meter.

I ordered the kimono and mohair in a cup. I loved the kimono, it was flavorful

Delicious ice cream served in a former dry cleaner, but the first thing you may notice or smell are the fresh waffle cones being pressed. The unique flavors are a combination that any palate would love. We both tried the mohair gelato (banana, honey, vanilla and Carmel) and the kimono gelato (Jasmine and Blueberry). If you prefer Gelato or sorbet for those lactose intolerant, they have great options to choose from even vegans can rejoice. I think I've found my new favorite ice cream spot in the area!

Oops I forgot to leave a review from when I came last. Probably gonna keep it simple. The ladies working the first time I came were super friendly. We joked around a bit. regarding the name and what not. They ran me through all the flavors. I think they usually have 7 rotating flavors. Got to sample them all. Orange carrot, pumpkin cream cheese, ginger chai, ricotta fig balsamic, matcha white chocolate, pumpkin spice cold brew... and probably one more.... I think I got the ricotta fig balsamic and another flavor that I can't recall. Shame on me for not taking notes this one time.

Friendly service and unique concept.
I ordered jasmine blueberry and rice milk cinnamon. They were ok, definitely very refreshing especially jasmine flavor.
Triple chocolate got strong chocolate fudgy flavor and chunk of chocolate fudge. If you are into that kind of flavor, this is for you!

Always delicious.

They change up the flavors frequently but when they have Burlap (peanut butter), run--do not walk--and get it. It's terrific.

We also tried Twill which was a combination of Twix and something else. You can't go wrong with Twix, right?

A little expensive but worth it. Employees are always helpful and friendly.

Just here to confirm that this place does in fact deserve 5 stars. Friendly staff and yummy ice cream. And if you haven't tried olive oil rosemary, don't hesitate. Go try it now!

An ice cream place inside of an old dry cleaning place. Now, where else are you going to find such a thing? I honestly love how they kept some of the details from the dry cleaning and incorporated it into their decor. Very cute and original. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we took forever to make our decisions. Due to Covid, we couldn't have samples, but she showed us what they looked like and described them to us. She also informed us their flavors change every two weeks, so there is always a reason to come back and try something new!

My friend got the Twill and Canvas. I got

We very much enjoyed our late night visit to this place. I got blueberry and several other flavors for my wonderful niece and nephew and especially my wife. The service was excellent and our gelato was better! It capped off a wonderful visit to San Diego although we stayed in Normal Heights and we are far from normal.

Life is good with perfecto gelato!

Service was great, and the design of the place is so creative and cute! I got the vegan flavor which was peanut butter with chocolate. It was delicious in taste but texture wasn’t great. My husband got the blueberry, which was subtle in taste and pretty good. Both gelatos were a bit grainy and mealy , but tasted great.

This place is SO CUTE. I think a lot of places that try to create concepts can turn out kind of gimmicky but I found the whole dry cleaner set up to be so well-executed! Everything from the decor to the names on the menu (linen, wool, etc.) tie into the concept.

DEFINITELY do the flavor tour to get a taste of all the unique flavors (mix of gelato and sorbet)! It was nice to get a taste of everything before settling on one or two flavors; everything tasted high quality. I also appreciate that their menu changes very frequently according to the seasons. When I was there, I got the pumpkin cream

Super delicious and very friendly staff! I had the burlap which is peanut butter/chocolate/coconut & another strawberry flavor which I forgot the name of. Really rad to see a spot like this retro-fit into an ice cream store. The branding and interior design is super on point and the ice cream was perfectly refreshing. Will certainly be coming back

An's Dry Cleaning offers deliciously unique combination of flavors in the form of sorbet and gelato. I love a good theme and this ice cream shop takes it to another level with their ironing board tables and flavors that are named after fabrics. Their menu rotates every 2 weeks. When I went, I ordered a small cup of Twill - chocolate, shortbread, and caramel. It was described to me as tasting like a Twix and I absolutely agree. Absolutely one of my favorites. The second flavor that caught my eye was Fluff - honey and blueberry. Tastes like breakfast which is a very comforting thing.

Wow, wow, wow.... They have amazing gelato here, probably my favorite so far. The gelato flavors and names are so unique, it entices you want to come here and try them. I wish I had a cooler to take some pints home because they are so delicious! I have only tried a few so far: the Velour, Hemp and Muslin and they all tasted sooo good. A definite must have when you are in the San Diego area.
I met with the owner and he informed me that he is opening another one in the Del Mar area with a hat shop themed gelato store, and maybe one in LA. The owner was so nice and welcoming as we asked him a bunch

An's Dry Cleaning is a hidden gem in SD. The name might fool pretty much everyone who is actually needing some dry cleaning, however, they do not offer dry cleaning but rather some delicious ice cream! An's has unusual flavors to say the least. They only have a few flavors to choose from, but they do offer a couple of vegan options which is nice.

When choosing a cup size they have a short, tall, and XL (pint). Even with a short you can choose 2 different flavors. Currently, during COVID they are not allowing samples and you must wear a mask in the shop. They do not have any seats inside

Don't let the name fool you, this is actually a gelato shop that kept true to the previous owners. I heard about An's from a friend who saw a food blogger post about the establishment. It's easily embedded within the other establishments so be sure not to miss them! Out front you'll see a table or two for your group to enjoy your gelato or you can enjoy one of their tables indoors that are ironing boards.

Loved this place because the staff member took us on the flavor tour and let us sample all the fabrics they had to offer. He was also great to explain the hints of flavors

Ridiculously good and seasonally rotating original flavors :-).
The place used to be an old dry cleaners and they've maintained art deco decor with color pops. The owner is in the store also and staff are super friendly

Their ice cream flavors are really, really good. They constantly change flavors, so you'll likely not see the same things from day to day. I ain't complaining though, because they've all hit the mark so far.

Yum! This non-traditional icecream shop will knock your socks off. (Nope, despite their name they don't actually do dry cleaning here haha) FYI: they rotate flavors every two weeks!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were asked if it was our first time. I confirmed whether they served ice cream or gelato here - it's gelato! The nice young person behind the counter asked if we wanted to try the flavor tour where they will provide samples of EVERY SINGLE FLAVOR. (Does any other shop do this?!)

We started with the 'palate cleanser' (ginger lemon sorbet) which was not

While in SD I was in the mood for some ice cream and I knew I had to check out An's Dry Cleaning. Upon walking in, the decor is very fitting to the name. There are little ironing boards as tables. We were welcomed immediately by the staff and were asked if we wanted to do a taste test of the flavors. Um yes! Their flavors vary each month. We initially started with this lemon ginger palate cleanser sorbet. Loved it! You can definitely taste the ginger without it being too overpowering. Who knew lemon and ginger would completement each other so well. My favorite was the suede, which was a vanilla

First time here. They only had 7 flavors and if you dont like chocolate then you're down to just a few. Got half with the almond flavor, which tasted exactly like eating almond butter, and half the cherry shortbread flavor. Both were good but nothing special. If I wanted to eat almond butter, I'll eat it from a jar, it's a lot cheaper and tastes the same. I just hoped for more unique flavors. The cherry shortbread was cool but it was bland too and tasted like milk ice cream without much cherry or shortbread flavors other than the very small, infrequent, chunks. Wouldn't go back

This may not be a dry cleaning establishment but all the flavors coming out of An's are FRESH!

I have somewhat of a love affair with An's. I started going when they opened in 2018 because I went to college nearby, and ended up going a crazy amount of times within that year. I even took some grad pictures there when I graduated because I wanted to commemorate how much of a role they played in my senior year.

All of the delicious flavors aside, An's is quite the lovely experience. The staff have always been super friendly and eager to take you on a flavor "tour

Super friendly service and pretty unique flavors. We were pleasantly surprised that when we walked in they let us sample all the flavors they had at the moment. They seem to rotate their flavors every two weeks. Any size you get they let you have two flavors which is nice.

We landed on the canvas (olive oil rosemary) and the crochet (vanilla almond cherry). For the canvas they also asked if we wanted salt on it which we tried and it made the rosemary flavor even more pronounced! I thought it would taste too savory as a flavor but was pleasantly surprised. The crochet had such a strong almond flavor

An’s Dry Cleaning is a speakeasy for gelato. Keeping the facade of a neighborhood landmark, you’ll be amazed at the experience that awaits you inside—something between Disneyland and The French Laundry. You’ll be delighted to be treated to a sample of all their selections and almost insulting your server if you do not allow them the honor of tasting through the menu. Don’t expect chocolate to be chocolate and vanilla to be vanilla, as the chef has named his flavors after fabrics. This is a must-visit if you enjoy gelato. Yes, they offer a few vegan options as well 😊

Wow- I am an ice cream gal. Ice cream, gelato, paletas, shaved ice, doesn't matter- give me all the creamy treats. An's Dry Cleaning blew me away!

To start it's the most unique concept. I adore that they didn't change the original heart of the store when they made it an ice cream shop. You really do feel a little out of place, but it's super fun ordering sweet treats called "suade" and "kakhi pants".

This place is so popular- expect a line. What I wasn't expecting was the level of customer service I would receive! They are generous with samples

Ermahgerd - delicious. Best gelato in San Diego. Backstory: This place was actually a dry cleaner many years ago. Now it is a dry cleaner themed gelato shop. The flavors are based on the names of fabrics. Denim never tasted so good. Rumor has it that they have an actual Italian in the back making the creamy confections.
