This place was fine, but wait staff was rude. After a family style lunch at 2 PM on a weekday, they had the audacity to walk up and ask why we did not tip more. If there's an expected tip amount, add it into the gratuity. Otherwise, don't berate people because they didn't meet your expected tip when you did not meet their expected service. Previously used to recommend, now will avoid doing so, because if a massive tip or minimum tip amount is expected after a lunch on a tuesday afternoon, then it needs to be prefactored in the bill or prefaced prior to the meal. There is no need

We made a reservation in advance since we travelled to NYC on Thanksgiving day. Felt as safe as can be because they check your vaccine status at the door and staff are masked. I had the sea bass and it was spectacular. Well prepared and fresh with capers, olives, tomatoes. My companions had more traditional Italian fare and both pastas were exquisite. Nice wine selection. Good service.

I went here for my dad's birthday and had a party of 12 people. The food came out in a timely order, apps, pizzas and then entrées. They spaced them out so it didn't feel like they were rushing us to eat everything. The burata caponata, calamari fritti and fig prosciutto pizza were so good. The pastas were also good, although by the time we made it to the pastas, we were getting full on the other things on the menu. We ordered 3 different pizzas and about 4-5 sides. So we all went home with half the pastas we ordered! They also took care of the cake we brought, lit the candles and served

Was there with my sister. Couldn't understand why they have one menu for internet and take out versus in restaurant dining. We asked for pasta primavera (takeout and internet order), which the waiter claimed they could not do because of computer entries. The waiter was a snippy, rude and acted as if we were asking for something complicated. The prices are much higher than before. We were not happy with service though the food was ok.
Will not return.

Fantastic: great, personable service, clean restaurant, and delicious food. No complaints here, unless you count leaving too full! The bread delivered to the table is quite good on its own as well. I ordered the cheese ravioli, my husband had the Penne Love Vodka and we topped it off with Tiramisu. The sauce for the ravioli and vodka was the same, which I didn't realize till after we ordered, but I did not mind, turns out I really like that sauce. Which worked out well, when I finished my ravioli quickly and helped with the penne. The serving size of the ravioli does seem to be smaller than

Even though I had a reservation, it didn't seem like I really needed one. The room was pretty empty., but it was a weekday night. My expectations were high from the many positive reviews, but I have to say my experience was only slightly above average.
The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was also average, not hovering, but not always there when I was looking for it. Maybe it was just an off night. I'd be willing to give them a second chance on my next trip.

It was a beautiful sunny day in Manhattan. My friends and I decided to go on a stroll aka drink wine while walking around Manhattan. We landed in Little Italy to go to the fair. It was very crowded and we were very peckish. A friend wanted pizza because duh we are in Little Italy and I wanted a cocktail. All the restaurants were booked and were not little doggie friendly so we had to find a table with this little rule. We managed to find a table at this place and I grabbed an espresso martini for some reason. It is not something I normally drink, but I just really wanted one that day.

Nothing fancy about this place . But it had everything right about it!
We had a reservation for outdoor seating which was a covered cozy corner table. Our waiter was good & he brought the drinks and appetizers out quickly. Food was extremely delightful with a few surprise elements .
1.Bruschetta was quite soggy- not worth trying
2. Mozzarella sticks with marinara - was divine . Margarita sauce amped up the flavor of this dish .
3. Fried Calamari with Marinara - was crispy tasted very good with and without the Marinara sauce .
4. Margherita Pizza - a classic Italian staple - extremely

OMG OMG - have a PSA!!!!!!
Order the mushroom risotto!!!!! A+
It is sooooo good. I can just sit there with a POT of risotto please - that would be the life! POT of delicious and comforting risotto with some Netflix haha.
Risotto is super creamy, well seasoned full of flavor. The mushroom flavor is strong and good bite. There are slices of garlic throughout.
The sweet onion & spicy sausage pizza also A+
So the sausage slices were spicier than I expected. The heat was a nice touch, but I had to remove them off after half through the slice haha. love the onions - good texture and taste. Crust

The best things about Zia Maria are the swear-you're-in-Roma ambiance and the very helpful, attentive staff.
We arrived late-ish (after 10pm) on a Friday night in serious need of dinner and were happy to see that Zia Maria wasn't packed like every other place we walked past in Chelsea (and no, we did not have reservations). They offer both outdoor cafe seating and indoor seating. As I said, I felt like I was walking into a Roman Trattoria, with it's casual, rustic vibes -- booths, low lighting with Edison bulbs, pizza counter/oven in the back, tin ceilings and subway tile walls

Some friends and I popped in here for dinner one evening. The place wasn't too crowded on a Monday night, but they do take reservations. We ordered a round of drinks. They have a large wine and beer menu, along with many classic cocktails (Old Fashions, Dark and Stormy, Mojitos). They also have a large food menu with 10 or so Pizza, Pasta, and Meat/Fish options. We ordered a caesar salad to share. For dinner, I went with the Linguine Vongole. Our food was excellent. I loved the flavors and my clams were cooked perfectly. The portions here are very ample, so come hungry or expect to have dinner

Finally back in NYC. Have to admit it doesn't seem the same. I wanted fresh pasta. The website said Zia Maria had fresh pasta. When I arrived we had a reservation. Which was fine. It was a bit crowded. So we sat in the back. But it was kind of warm near the kitchen. So we sat outside. It was nice out. Had a bottle of wine the waiter recommended. It was good. Had the spinach salad. Delicious. Gnocchi Bolognese. Fantastic. One of the best I've had. Also had the pasta carbonara. Sorry. Mine is better. Service was great. Check was in line for good food. Delicious!!
This is the second time I have been to Zia Maria. The first time I was with family, enjoyed the pasta. This time I ventured off with my guy for a date night.
On the Tuesday night that we went, we had the entire restaurant to our selfs!! That was really enjoyable.
Are waiter/the bartender/host (I hope he's getting paid right for doing everything but make our food) helped us to our seats, made our drinks, brought our food out, gave me cheese, and was a true delight the whole entire time we were there!
Our food was amazing. My guy got veggie pizza and he loved it. I got gnocchi

Zia Maria is a casual pizza + pasta sit-down restaurant + a full bar, located in Chelsea. the indoor space is quite large, well-maintained, and clean, and there was a decent amount of seating outside as well. the restaurant has a relaxed warm vibes--perfect for families and low-key get-togethers. a group of us had lunch here when indoor dining was still in effect.
servings are quite ample whether you're ordering pizza or pasta. as a group of 4, we ordered 2 pastas and 2 small pizzas, and we were all pretty stuffed. i really enjoyed the small "meat lover's pizza" and could barely

The chocolate martini is to die for! Worth every penny, and totally makes for a great boozy Sunday brunch enclosed in the rain, considering the pandemic. It was such a relief to be out and feeling alive in NYC. The service was comical and attentive, but the carbonara left a lot to be desired. Still, I'd it all was a wonderful experience, despite the newfound COVID TAX attached to our bill by surprise. Lastly, the location is great with many dessert spots to explore nearby.

Zia Maria was an average experience at best but I would probably go back again. We tried this place for the first time today because our go-to Italian restaurant in Chelsea was closed. First of all it should go without saying that these are incredibly tough times for restaurants so I will make sure to highlight the positives from this experience, and will give them another shot in the future.
Positives:
- Pretty good outdoor dining area. Small, but does the job with heaters and was nicely decorated. Keep in mind that business have to foot the bill for these sidewalk setups so anything above

One of my favorite places. Although I fell victim to the quarantine 15 and am just having sautéed spinach as I write this, a review of this establishment is long over due. Staff is very welcoming and professional.
I always have a wonderful experience when I come here. The wine list is great. Their salads are phenomenal and the pizza is delicious. Perfect for a date, groups, or just to chill at the bar and have a drink with friends.
They have good brunch deals and they also make gluten free pasta and pizza for those with dietary needs. It's not far from the highline or the pier

Was looking for a new place to eat and family friendly for a get together with friends. Very nice family owned restaurant and great find - service and food were great! Prices are reasonable and location fairly easy to get to in Chelsea. they have a small bar area in front and a brick oven pizza in the back. Love the decor which made you feel like you're in Italy - from the Pelligrino and the wine bottles.
Complimentary baked bread was delicious!
Appetizers: Fried Calamari and Caprese (mozzarella & tomatoes)
Entrees: Cheese pizza, linguini with clams, pappardelle with mushrooms,
chicken
