I have spent over 35 years helping people to transform their lives (as a licensed psychologist for over 20 years and over 15 years supervising local mental health programs). My formal training includes both a PhD in clinical psychology and a PhD in Human Services. My holistic approach draws from somatic experiencing, mindfulness based cognitive approaches, and solution-focused therapy.
We will work together to determine the best approach tailored for you and your specific needs. I also have an animal assisted therapy dog, Dogtor Sveglia (pictured below), who assists me in sessions. The quality of our lives is a reflection of our state (physiology, mood, focus, and self-talk). Our life's journey is a reflection of how we relate to people, parts of ourselves, opportunities, and challenges.

Before, scheduling an appointment, I would like to have a short phone call with you. I will ask you what you are looking for in therapy to make sure that I am a good fit as a therapist and that I have the experience and expertise in the areas you want assistance. I also want you to have an opportunity to ask me questions that can help you determine if I would be able to help you.

I approached Dr. Palmer seeking care. I needed someone with his training and approach, but he could not not take my insurance. I am deeply moved however by the caring and thoughtful series of emails he sent attempting to find a referral for me from his network of colleagues. It is clear to me that he loves and believes in his work. If we judge our healers not only by what they do during sessions, but by the care they give even to non-clients like myself, then Dr Palmer gets my five stars and my heartfelt appreciation.

If I could give a 10 star review for Dr. Scott Palmer, I would. I called him in December a few years ago just before he was scheduled to leave town for the holidays. He had two appointments available, and I took both of them. Those meetings gave me hope through the holidays that I was going to make it after all. If you’ve been there, you know what I mean. Dr. Palmer is the quintessential listener. He asks questions that help you sort through emotions and circumstances. Because he is a sincere and genuine person, his responses reflect these traits, which gave me confidence in him and myself. I
