Dr. Rachel Brinker is originally from Kentucky and found her way to Marin County after attending dental school and residency on the East Coast. Rachel received her D.M.D. degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and her Certificate in Periodontics from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York, NY.
Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is just as important as keeping the rest of your body healthy. In fact, healthy teeth and gums help keep your body healthy. A healthy mouth can add 10-15 years to your life! In addition to regular brushing and flossing at home, routine dental cleanings remove a build-up of bacteria, what is called biofilm, to keep your teeth their sparkling best.
Gum disease, sometimes called periodontal disease, is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. The bacteria that cause this dental disease have been lined to serious health problems such as heart problems, poor circulation leading to diabetic concerns, strokes premature and even low birth rate babies and even cancer.
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the soft tissues of the mouth and the underlying jawbone which supports the teeth. A dentist must first graduate from an accredited dental school before undertaking an additional three years of study within a periodontology residency training program, in order to qualify as a periodontist.

Dr. Brinker is amazing! I really look forward to seeing her every few months. She is incredibly intelligent, fun to be around, and clearly a very kind person. Her staff seems very much at ease and are all extremely friendly. With my previous periodontist, I used to dread going to my appointments. Now, I look forward to them. She is truly the best.

Dr. Brinker and her staff are tremendously competent, pleasant, and helpful. Periodontal work is not inexpensive from ANY periodontist but this periodontist is special and especially talented. I have never seen any Dr. with this impressive of a pedigree, Harvard Dental School, Columbia post doctorate for periodontist training. I am jealous I applied to both schools and wound up at UCLA. Furthermore I came to Dr. Brinker on short notice from a referral from my regular dentist. Tooth No. 6 or the right upper eyetooth had developed a 10 pocket, was wobbly, with infection, with a great deal of bone

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Brinker. She is an excellent periodontist. I have improved to the point where I could go back to my regular dentist office for cleanings but am choosing to continue to see Dr. Brinker instead. She is very thorough and much faster. Between Leeanne and Dr. Brinker, I feel like I am getting the best service possible. Highly recommended!

Dr. Rachel Brinker is a truly wonderful doctor. I went in because I had a canker sore that just wouldn't go away. I was in excruciating pain and she was able to see me almost right away. She used a laser on the canker sore and the pain was resolved almost immediately. I highly recommend Dr. Brinker to anyone needing a periodontist.
