N.N.S. Preschool is Northfield MN preschool that offers part-day classes for children ages 3-5. N.N.S. is a non-profit, family-involved preschool that helps children develop socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively for their future educational endeavors. NNS was founded in 1942 as a cooperative nursery school. It was originally organized by the parents of preschool children and governed by a parent Board of Directors. The school was housed in several locations until 1966 when it was moved to its present home in the Northfield United Methodist Church.
NNS provides a variety of activities that are active, quiet, teacher directed, and child initiated. Learning materials are rotated on a weekly basis and evaluated regularly by staff. Activities are designed to promote the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children in a manner consistent with the child's cultural background.
Northfield Nursery School is proud to offer the following classes for children ages 3, 4, and 5. Families may enroll in whichever class best fits their family's needs. This includes combining 2-day and 3-day Mornings to create a 5-day experience, or adding a Lunch Bunch option on Mondays or Wednesdays.
Scholarship applications are made available upon request to every family enrolled. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please complete the application and return it to the Community Action Center of Northfield as early as possible. Scholarship funds vary each year and have traditionally been distributed in July or August for the upcomingA school year.

A wonderful preschool. It is play-based and provides children with plenty of opportunities to learn in ways that are interesting to them. They regularly rotate their toys/books/science materials so that the children have new experiences. For example, the imaginative play area might be a play house at the start of the year, then a farmer's market in the fall, then a pet hospital or doctors office.
