Every year the excitement grows as fair time nears, and your continued support of this wonderful fundraiser is greatly appreciated! Open Door is a person-centered facility located in Sandwich, Illinois. We have been providing vocational, residential, day, and community support services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1963.

Drawing upon the foundation of family and community, our comprehensive programs focus on providing services and support that promotes growth, independence, and self-worth for the individuals we serve. Donors and volunteers fuel the powerful experiences we pride ourselves in providing for Open Door individuals.
Services
Open Door started with the actions of two visionary duos who forever impacted hundreds of lives in the community of Sandwich, IL. David & Juanita Graf and William & Virginia Squier recognized a need in their hometown. Each couple had adult children with disabilities whom they felt would greatly benefit from daily, structured programming.
Rita is an avid reader and voracious learner who constantly strives for innovative ways to improve her life and the lives of others. Open Door has not only given Rita the freedom to do so, but has encouraged her to utilize these passions to help create an agency that she is honored to be a part of.
More than a piece of paper shoved into a drawer and long forgotten, you will find our mission and values proudly hanging on our walls, and, more importantly, integrated into everything we do. Open Door strives to provide unrivaled services, as evidenced by the number of clients who have called Open Door home, even family, for much of their lives.
Open Door workshops are buzzing with activity every day of the week! Enter either of our two campus locations, and you will be greeted by enthusiastic staff. Inside, you will see clients enjoying programming or contently working at their work stations. Our east workshop provides individuals with close supervision and personal care, while the west workshop offers people more independence and work focus.
Our enthusiastic staff provides support for our clients in two different types of residential settings. Both options are person centered, therefore setting up each individual for success by offering a wide variety of opportunities for experiences in the community. Our group homes provide a family atmosphere where four to eight individuals live together with 24-hour staff support.
