Bear's Lair is your LAKEFRONT home away from home. Not only does our home have stunning lake, marina, and mountain views, but a boat dock is included with your rental. It is located next door to Holloway's Marina and a very short drive to the village, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain. The home has a reverse floor plan with 3 bedrooms and a full bath on the first floor.

Do you provide firewood? No, you can purchase firewood at any local store around town including 7-11, Vons, and Stater Brothers. Do I have to pay the cleaning fee or can I clean the house myself? Yes. We charge a cleaning fee to every guest to assure that our homes are cleaned properly for each guest.

* pull-out bed for two was broken and didn't have blankets

* door from freezing cold anteroom to living room didn't close
Staci was not responsive at all, and she didn't even have the courtesy to respond to our complaints per email after we left.

First, we'd like to say that we've stayed at a few of Stacie's previous properties. They are sold now, but were decent. Once they went up for sale, it was clear they did not care about "keep up" as certain things didn't work, but they were decent. We chose to stay at their lake side cabin this trip, Bears Lair. We thought we were going to be staying at a nicer place than the others. WRONG. Bears Lair has been the worst. It is filthy. The carpet is filthy, the fridge barely works, the spa is dirty, the wooden bars along the stairs are loose and some have fallen off

Stacie Linka - manager is a con artist. Read the reviews here, look at Google Reviews, and check out the B.B.B. Website. You will be scammed here, trust me. I am sure we will be taking this issue to court. Currently I'm on hold waiting on my credit card company as I have started the process to dispute charges. Cabins are trash, pictures are very misleading. You pay a cleaning fee and walk into a very dirty cabin. Stacie is semi-professional and responsive UNTIL your stay is complete, at that point you can hang it up. She has your security deposit and will block your communications. You ask

Our stay at the Bear's Lair Cabin was pretty relaxing! The cabin was clean and orderly and looked as nice or nicer in person than in pictures. The sheets, bedding and towels had that freshly washed scent. Our teenage kids had fun playing pool, playing with the board games they brought and watching movies. Our BBQs on the outside deck overlooking the lake were made even better by the fantastic Big Bear sunsets. Making s'mores in the fireplace was a delight for all of us. Overall we loved staying at the Bear's Lair and will definitely return in the near future!

They charge a cleaning fee AND a security deposit. I've still got 16 days to go before I should receive my security deposit back, however, the cleaning fee is non-refundable. Considering what they require of guests before they leave, it would leave very little cleaning for them to actually do. That being said, it appears that, except for new rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom and paper towels in the kitchen, the place needed to be cleaned. The counter in the kitchen where we eat was dusty and, worse, the bedding on the bed, the spare bedding in the closet and the futon in the living

We just rented the Bear's Lair cabin and it was beautiful. The cabin looks exactly like the pictures but I must say it was much better in person. The cabin came with everything we needed for our 4 day trip. The layout of the rooms provided enough space for 3 families. The pool table was a bonus because we were snowed in..
I wish their were better instructions on how to get the heater to a comfortable temperature . The rooms downstairs were a bit cold but we brought extra blankets. And it would have been helpful to have some shovels just in case their is a lot of snow. We had to dig the snow

I just came back from staying at the Bears Lair cabin for my sons birthday and I must say I loved it! And so did my guests ... ... I was scared due to all the reviews below however I did not have a bad experience at all ... It was clean and looked just like the photos , we literally were able to walk to Holloways Marina because it was right adjacent to us from the lake shore , very convenient.
The only reason it's not 5 stars is because 2 of the patio chairs outside were torn from the seat and unusable , and there were ants in the kitchen each morning (but I mean come on we are in the wilderness

I wish I found these reviews before I stayed at Pine Knot cabin. All the pictures looked great online; however the cabin was unkept when we got there. First of all, the house is for sale and it seems like they don't care about upkeep. Secondly, the house next door looks like it has a homeless camp going on outside. The $100 cleaning fee is a joke. I didn't feel comfortable getting in the shower due to ants. On the website it says the cabin has A/C but it does NOT. It was 83 degrees in the cabin with the thermostat set to 55 degrees. That wasn't the only thing that didn't work

These people are a scam! I cancelled my vacation 60 days in advance and they said I'd get my money within 30
Days. I got nothing. I called, emailed, left voicemails and got no reply. It seems to happen to others too with the security deposit as well. I lost $700 for nothing. I wish there was a better way to warn people. Do not use this site.

For the past few years, several couples have rented cabins/houses at Big Bear. My husband made the reservation and it seemed fine. After we made the second payment, they were very slow at sending the door code. We had to call and email several times to get it. Finally got it. We arrived to find the house mostly clean. It honestly looked like any housekeeping was done superficially and not well. In April 2015, we rented the Pine Tree Cottage. Upon our arrival we instantly noticed how filthy and hazardous the cabin was. We first noticed the carpet was worn and stained and a portion of the moulding that transitions the carpet to the wood flooring was missing allowing someone to stub their toes. In addition, there were no socket covers for the outlets and some of the sockets were broken. The couch was stained an worn too. We rented a cabin at bigbear-cabin planning to celebrate my parents 35th wedding anniversary on 2/14/15. Unfortunately my mother was hospitalized, dying and put on life support, then sent home for 3 days of hospice care before passing. We called Stacie Linka on 2/10 from hospital to cancel our cabin. She told us she would cancel the reservation, not to worry about it and she'd refund everything within the week. We'd see it on our card within 30 days she said. We were so pleased. She seemed so compassionate and understanding.

Worst customer service EVER! This person does not deserve your money. BEWARE! I stayed at the Cozy Bear Cabin. The cabin was nice but the level of communication by the owner/manager, Staci Linka, was non-existent. Staci never answered her phone. And about the deposit... I was supposed to get my security deposit back within 30 days of checkout. Around day 25 I didn't have my deposit or any indication I was getting it back so I called and left Staci a message on her phone and I emailed her as well. No reply. At day 31 I called, emailed, texted Staci. No reply! I contacted my bank to dispute

This was a horrible experience. Our first and last time renting from a private company. Besides starting off that this lady has no clue how to run a business. Never answers the phone or returns messages or emails. We finally got our door code to get access to the cabin (I was a bit worried she had taken my down payment and we were out a vacation). My family and I stayed in one of the cabins and enjoyed our stay. We thought the place was clean and as advertised. However, per the rental agreement, a $150 deposit is due back within 30 days. The owner has promised to return the deposit, but has not followed through and it is well over 30 days. This has forced me to make a claim through my credit card company to chase her for the deposit because my voicemails and emails have gone ignored.
I think the customer service with company is poor and unfortunately I cannot recommend using this company again.

This company is horrible. We were double charged to our credit card. Then told we weren't even though I could show them the bill. Impossible to get hold of anyone who can help. Location of Cabin was not where we were told it was. Two weeks into our month long stay another $1, 100 charge to our credit card. Was told we did not pay enough security deposit. Not our fault paid exactly what we were told when we booked. Them fought for a month on getting our security deposit refunded. Phone calls never returned. Rude people. Very unprofessional.
