Services
Pixie Hill Preschool, as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization relies on the generosity of parents, alum families and the community to make fulfilling our mission possible. We operate on the standard model of tuition covering 85% of our expenses with fund-raising to make up the difference. We thank you in advance for any support you can give!
Jenn was born and raised in Port Angeles, Washington, but moved to the Seattle area in 2011 to attend the University of Washington. Jenn comes to Pixie Hill after working at KidsQuest Children's Museum for 7 years, as an Early Learning Educator and Program Coordinator. After doing outreach programs at Pixie Hill, she fell in love with the atmosphere and teaching environment.
The 3's program curriculum encourages growth in socialization skills as children learn to listen, share, take turns, and participate comfortably in individual and group activities. The children participate in circle time, a wide range of art and play experiences and activities designed to promote development in both large and small motor skills.
The Pre-K class continues to encourage socialization skills, as well as academic Kindergarten readiness. Learning activities include emergent math, emergent reading and pre-writing emphasized in small group work, as well as whole class lessons. Group activities provide opportunities to make decisions, follow directions, assume responsibility, and work cooperatively.
An optional pre-kindergarten enrichment program is offered on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Children may opt to enroll for one or both enrichment days. The enrichment program builds on the themes that are introduced in the traditional pre-k class and offers students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of those topics with a focus on math, science and art.

Our family moved to the island a little over a year ago and enrolled our son in the 3's program. The minute we stepped foot in the school house (an actual house- so sweet!) and took in the expansive backyard, we were sold. Beth Christofferson, the lead Pre-K teacher and administrator, was warm and inviting and let us know about the special community Pixie created among the families. An absolute Gem! New to the Island we looked into multiple preschools and were instantly impressed with Pixie Hill. Our daughter is in her second year and we couldn't be happier. We were charmed by the darling facility and high caliber teachers and loved that the small class sizes afford the teachers the opportunity to interact in-depth with each child. The on-site "field trips" are a huge highlight for my daughter, with monthly music visits from Nancy Stewart, and many other experiences from Kids Quest Children's Museum, Dizzy's Tumblebus, the Bug Guy, puppet shows

Pixie is the best "first community" your child could have, outside your family. Teachers are loving, fun and firm, with clear expectations with regards to behavior and transitioning from play to actual learning. Students are equipped with the academic, social and emotional tools to move to Kindergarten with ease. A wonderful and loving environment!

Pixie Hill has provided a supportive learning community inside the classroom as well as built a strong and confident foundation to prepare our kids for kindergarten. Teachers have a great depth of experience and carry full teaching credentials which is important to us. Our kids learned to be good friends to one another while learning the general expectations of behavior and problem solving in the classroom. We have had the pleasure of being apart of the Pixie Hill Preschool Community since 2014. During the last two years our son has blossomed and that is in large part due to the incredible teachers at Pixie Hill. After touring a number of pre-schools on Mercer Island and in Bellevue, and we were immediately drawn to Pixie Hill. Sometimes you just know instinctively when you come across something special - the teachers were warm and engaging, and they fostered such a kind and welcoming environment that our daughter felt comfortable there immediately despite entering the 3's class near the end of the school year. Pixie Hill is an exceptional preschool & has cultivated an amazing community for our 2 daughters.
