In 1977, a well-known auto body repair chain thought they'd try their hand at fixing large vehicles, so they opened a shop in Hayward, CA and started to bring in business. At the time, Sam Portillo worked for the phone company as an engineer, and he and his wife Terry lived on the same block as several of the executives from the body shop chain.
Sam and Terry soon discovered that the new shop was going up for sale as a franchise, so in 1979, Sam decided to leave the phone company and bought the franchise. Using his experience with the phone company and a lot of hard work, he started building up the RV and truck body repair shop, focusing on excellent customer service and strong customer relationships.

Because we speak the language and have an insider's knowledge of the insurance industry, our friendly staff will get you through the maze of paperwork and get you back on the road in no time.
Sam and BEAR did a great job on repairing crash damage to an older RV, keeping the price reasonable. RV crashed nose into an overhang, bent aluminum frame loop, cracked fiberglass, broken wood interior paneling.
Checked around for estimates (using a good set of photos) including RV shops in South San Francisco, Novato and Sacramento, got a wide range of estimates from $2000-$10000+ including corporate ("its totaled, we can't be liable for hidden damage, need to take the whole thing apart") and several flakes (if a shop is flaky on returning calls for an estimate, how hard will it be to get the work complete?).

We lost a wheel on our 5th wheel RV. Lug bolts all sheared off! We called several places to get it fixed and Patti at Bear Truck Painting and Repair said being it in! They had it fixed and back to us in 2 days. Great service, very helpful. Thanks to everyone there!

I just got my RV back from the shop after had it fixed at Bay Equipment and Repair shop. First, I am super happy with the fix and the way my coach came out after being fixed by the team there. The paint/decals job, replacing broken parts and everything else they did, came out beautifully. On top of it the level of service I got from Steve was way beyond my expectations. Clear and frequent communication, full transparent, professional and of course delivered when was promised. If you ever looking for an RV bodyshop, this one is highly recommended.

Great Company, and staff. Everyone is super friendly and ready to help in whatever you need. Ive worked with them 3 times for all different projects. Quality work for a reasonable price, and quick turn around compared to previous shops I've worked with before them. Just an amazing shop everyone is hard working and super friendly. I will definitely be working with them again. I highly recommend them to anyone!!!!

I brought a crazy idea with a pretty aggressive timeline to ca bear and they delivered! Not only did they meet the deadline but they were patient in working with me to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. I'd definitely recommend this team as they have the expertise and commitment to get things done.

Good job on my water truck paint job. Could've took a chance and gone to a less expensive shop but I didn't because other shops didn't sand blast, Bear did. After seeing this shop and the type of trucks they were working on, this was exactly the type of work that I wanted.
Minor details that took away the one star from my ratings, but all in all, I would bring my business back to them.

I have a 2012 Ford Mustang that i wanted to have stripes painted on. When i went to BEAR i knew I wanted Silver stripes. But the painter (Elton) showed me so many different shades of Silver paint samples that when I left the shop I was unsure of the shade I picked. He must have given me two books of little paint samples with just silver paint. It was extremely difficult to tell if the silver I chose from this tiny paint sample would look good on the whole car? So they taped off the car and were going to start painting on Monday. But they asked if I wanted to go down to the shop one more time before

Came in for 3 diagnostics on my newly bought RV. Attendant did not honor my request until further discussion after initial confirmation, wasting time. Was suppose to take one day, scheduled two weeks in advance, called a week in advance to confirm. No estimate. Not happy with customer service haven't even inspected the work review part two. Reported to the City of Hayward complaint. Also did not receive estimate on promised time. Also reported them for possible PRICE GAUGING.

We needed a mangled bumper fixed and some minor fiberglass repair on our Scamp trailer. The price was fair and the work was excellent. Better than new. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars: The work was finished a week later than initially promised and phone calls were not promptly returned (next day or later). Bottom line: I would use Bear RV again, and I would recommend them to friends and family.
