Services
If you're looking for the best Maine Campground, look no further! We're open every year from Memorial Weekend through Columbus Weekend. If you are looking for a clean, quiet, family camping in Maine, you found it! We are one of the few Maine campgrounds that has direct trail access for ATVing. We are located 20 miles south of Moosehead Lake, in the small town of Abbot.
We will be showing movies on Saturday nights (weather permitting) through the entire 2020 season. Bring your costume, decorations for your camper, candy for trick-or-treating, and a pumpkin to carve or paint. We will show an outdoor movie Friday Night(weather dependent). On Saturday everyone will carve or paint their pumpkins at 11:00 am, at 1:00 pm there will be a Hayride, at 4:00 pm our Ice Cream Social, at 5:30pm a Costume Parade.
A: ATV's can not be ridden through the campground - you must park your ATV in the designated ATV parking area. We do this to prevent unwanted noise, dust, and reckless driving that would occur. A: Balsam Woods Campground does not rent out ATV's, but there are 2 places near us that do: Moosehead Motorsports and Northwoods Outfitters.

With over 1,000 miles of trails, we're the #1 place to go atving while also being able to camp! It the best of both worlds. Our trail leaves a designated ATV parking area, and from there you can go any direction you like! The trails are marked, and we have maps available. Awesome place to stay! Beautiful campground, friendly staff! There's a nice walking trail in the woods that you can start on from the campground. Didn't use the pool, but looked nice and clean. Would definitely recommend this campground. We stayed on site A4, and had no problems with a 40ft fifth wheel.

This is by far the best campground around. So many fun things to do, clean and extremely family friendly with activities for the kids as well as the pool and playground. Staff and owners are on site and make you feel comfortable and couldn't be nicer. Access to the ATV trails is key and everything is so convenient. Highly recommend!

This camo ground is everything they say they are on their website and more! What beautiful grounds! A hidden paradise up north! It's so clean and beautiful here, the owners are friendly and do a great job. We rented a luxury cabin and they are gorgeous! Word is there is a waiting list so plan ahead! They have a nice size pool, volleyball court, basketball court, a bath house for those that need it. Our friends come here every year and reserve a cabin a year in advance. Definitely the nicest camo grounds we have ever been to and we look forward to coming back all the way from Fl!

It was beautiful & we had a great time. We were there for a week. We are off to another campground a week from Monday. We have several more to try out. But, they advertise on their web page that the pool is hearted. They don't, so I say it's false advertising. Sharon & Chris went 4 wheeling, I stayed with our fur babies. It is a very nice campground. This was our 2nd visit @ Balsam Wood, very well run & very clean. I didn't take any pictures but Sharon did so I will post them later.

A truly welcoming and pleasant campground. The owners and employees of this facility are certainly doing it right! Relaxing atmosphere, clean facilities, clean and refreshing pool, well stocked and affordable camp store. Very welcoming of friendly and well behaved dogs, I'm not sure we saw a campsite that didn't have a dog!! Without a doubt we will return again and again!!! Thank you!!!

We are a full-time traveling family (2 kids - 8 & 13) and 2 English Bulldogs. We have a Class A motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. We stayed here in June for 11 nights in site B6 and loved it! Owners Matt & Jamie are wonderful and we left feeling like we had stayed at a friend's place. Our site was great because we could see the kids at the playground and the pool, but there were many great sites a bit more tucked away as well. The kids also loved the Saturday night movie they would play on the big screen as well as the movie rental options available for personal use while there. We did not use the
