Hair Mode Hair Salon was opened in 1999 by Young Kim in Annandale, VA. Young Kim has built her professional hair stylist experience as a hair stylist coordinator in the Korean movie business, CF, fashion, makeup, and hairstyle fields in Korea. Her experience as a hair stylist at the famous Park Jun Hair Salon in Seoul, Korea made her want to open her own salon.
Her ongoing passion for Hair and Beauty made her open up her own salon called Hair Mode Hair Salon in Annandale, Virginia. Since then she has established a strong reputation for styling various hair types, not only Japanese Straight and digital perm, but Keratin Treatment and Balayage, long hair, looks for men, color, short cuts.

The best place to get your hair cut in Northern VA! I have only gone to Mrs. Young and highly recommend her! I have gone to numerous people in this area and she is the one person who cuts my hair how I ask her too. She's very thoughtful to ask for photos of the hairstyle I'm hoping for, and also provides good insight and suggestions into how to make some changes for the hairstyle to better fit my face. She also provides good recommendations for hair care. You can usually book a reservation in 1-2 weeks in advance as well! Love Mrs. Young and will always be going to her while I'm

Appreciated the cut and color and styling. I did have to sit for 5 hours throughout the whole process, but Ms. Young did a great job with my hair. She recommended several products to try for damaged hair care. The shop was friendly and staff was friendly. Parking is limited, but usually is not an issue since appointments seem to be spread out reasonably. There is also an empty parking lot across the street. I think the products the salon uses are also of good quality.

Jessica is gem -- she's detailed, thorough and skilled at cutting hair. Such a rare find these days. She can color, too! She wants to know exactly what you want to achieve in her chair. Jessica will work with your hair goals, not just for your present visit but she considers what you're working towards in the next few months with your hair. If there is time, she will take the time to show the styling options for your hair and provide you with styling tips. I love that She doesn't try to sell you on any products! Jessica is a true hair designer -- not a salon sales person.

10/10. Asked her (the owner, Young) to give me a very specific medium long, Asian male haircut - she took a pic of the pic I brought and put it on the mirror so she could keep checking it and she was very attentive and reflective when listening to the specific way I wanted it. Everyone was wearing a mask, every surface was sanitized before and after. She was very polite and patient too. Love her!

I got my hair done by Ms. Young Kim and I love it! I haven't gotten a haircut since before the pandemic, so it was really nice to shed a few inches and add some layers/style. She was very sweet and kept asking me what I wanted throughout the whole process. She's great with Asian hair (mine is naturally super straight) and I definitely recommend her to anyone!

My friend warned me about this place, I should've listened. First time here came out with a hole in the back of my head. The cutter never even mentioned it and I paid full price($30)+tip. The entire process took longer than other places too. Same friend said he's never gone back since years ago. I Will not be going back either.

Young did an amazing job on my hair! It has been six months since my last haircut due to quarantine, and she handled my hair very well. Even though my hair was very damaged from past hair dyes, she was still able to do the V-Shape that I requested!
Masks were used at all times, and a lot of safety precautions were taken due to COVID-19.
I highly recommend this salon for your hair needs!

The person who has been cutting my hair since I was little moved, so I had to do research to find a new go-to salon and chose Hair Mode. I'm so happy I did.
Young-Eun trimmed my fringes and chopped 6 inches off my hair: a much needed chop. Her attention to detail was amazing and took her time to make sure everything was perfect. She's also warm, super sweet and really cares about her craft. She doesn't try to sell me on any additional services which is also wonderful!
Not to mention, her salon is super clean and she also has a certificate to show she can conduct her business with

I have been stuck with the same style for years because my hair is extremely thick and hard. Young is very encouraging and inspiring me to try something new by explaining to me I am not the only one who has this kind of hair. I tired what she suggested and that result is sooooo good. Btw, she is very professional with the Covid sanitizing procedure before the haircut. Totally recommend!

Definitely a pleasant experience and the staff were very accommodating. I was extremely late to my appointment, but even then, there was no hesitation to seat and cut my hair. Jessica did my hair, and it's been about 3 days now. Overall, I am satisfied with my hair, probably the best version of two block cut I've had in the states. It is important to note that it's definitely more pricey here than I'm used to, at a base of $30 for a men's cut - I'm used to paying $20 or $25 with tip. Anyway, I do think I'll come back here unless there's a better recommendation

I have enjoyed getting my haircut (for Korean male) here for the past year. Everyone is friendly and I'm satisfied with my cut every time. Young (the owner) does a great job. The only thing is that Korean hairstylists do charge a lot in the DMV area. That's just part of the cost for have a stylist who knows what they're doing with Korean hair.

The trifecta of cost ($30 male haircut), quality, and delivery of service offers the biggest bang for the smallest buck. Hair Mode is my most trusted and reliable salon for the last 3 years. The storefront makes you feel at home and there's a sign that states 'Walk-Ins Welcomed!' so it's very easy to grab a hair session. These two stylists never fail to disappoint and go the extra length for your personal care & satisfaction.

This place is my God-send. I had been looking for a hair stylist who could simply do what I asked for and in the last 4 years of living in nova, I had never had an experience where I was really truly happy with the end result.
Young is amazingly talented, and everyone else at the salon is super nice and friendly! I have really thick hair and usually keep it long, but I wanted to do something drastic: go for an asymmetrical bob (one side longer than the other). I was nervous to do something so dramatic at a place I had never been to, but I trusted the other bob pics I saw, and I'm so glad
