Waipahu Recycling
Full-service, scrap metal and plastic bottle recycling company located in Waipahu, HI, Waipahu Recycling is a mill-direct supplier of nonferrous scrap metal. We are a family owned and operated business dedicated to providing our customers with courteous service and fair pricing for honest weights. EXPERIENCE: Best recycling center I've been to yet!

I came here around 9AM on a Thursday, it was super easy to find, lots of street parking (even though I've read in previous reviews that you can even pull into the area) and the workers are sooooo nice! I was hesitant to come here because I didn't know how long it was going to take, how long lines were gonna be, etc.

It has been a while since I have been to this recycling center and things have changed. I feel bad because I was not prepared and did not have all my recycling separated which does make sorting a lot longer. I understand that they have the staff there but to have things run quickly, it is better that I do my part to separate my recycling and now I know. They people were nice and assisted us and reminded us that because they have been so busy they are asking for people to have things separated. I was very happy with my visit today. Planning on going back with my separated recyclables.

Just took a HUGE load of more than 20 bags unsorted & the guy working was super friendly of how we should go about sorting them so we can get the process going faster.
Drove in, waited for about 10 minutes & finished unloading/cashing out in 15 minutes. Great, fast-paced service!

Don't tell anyone about this place. They will remove the recycle from your car or truck and put the empty boxes back in for you. all you need to do is go in make a U turn and wait your turn, when done move up so the next vehicle can be unloaded. then you go to the office to get your money.
This so beats the others that make you empty and sort your own.
The bad is that it's on the same road as the Waipahu dump and sometimes the line to go there backs up past the entrance to this place

I dread going to these places. Slow pace help and I just feel like there's no urgency for the workers to work faster and more efficient. That's why my husband does it by himself:)
Fast forward----- we had a lot of errands to do and one of them was to recycle 5 bags. It was our first time here and finding it was kinda confusing. But it's ok ....
Due to Covid you just stay in your vehicle and wait for your turn. They'll instruct you to come out to give your bags of bottles & cans. I had a few wine bottles that they told my husband wasn't recyclable. Oh well:/

They didn't pay us for bottles?! Had my son get the cash while I waited in the car. Drove off n didn't look at the receipt until a day later. Intentional mistake? It was more than a case.

This place is quick. Works greatly as a team as they do their best to tackle the lines before they get pumped up! They quickly grab your recycles. Close the back of your vehicle and all you do is sit in your car while they grab the weight numbers or your recycling. They automatically weigh it out for you and you just sign off on the amount.

I've been recycling for over 10 years and this is my new go-to place. You drive onto their property and when it's your turn, they take out all the cans out of the car for you and do the sorting themselves. All you have to do is drive up and sign your name when you collect your cash; they do all the work for you! If you don't wanna break a sweat, this is the place for you.

I read some other positive reviews before coming to this place. I like it because it's very organized. Decent amount of return fund. I don't expect to get rich out of recycling items that are useless. Before I used to get mad that I didn't get the whole amount of of the recycling fees they charging us at the stores. But then I realized that recycling centers gotta pay they employees, their overhead costs and among other fees. This place is really legit. After they weighted the items, they print out the itemized receipt of what we brought. Workers there work hard and are helpful. I don't think they

Went today and had to wait so long, BECAUSE someone never follow the rules... Nothing separated, caps on water, rubbish, soda still in bottle and he had lots of bags. Poor employees the Boss was like yelling at them to JUST DO IT... Eh BOSS you should have your employees backs, they have to help the ones that follow the rules. UGH.. Come on now.. I would have told the man to take his stuff some place else... or separate them.. It inconvenience us to. I like because the employees so nice and fast.. BUT NOT TODAY. Someone came talk to us and said same they may go somewhere else.

Me and my mom's first time here, and there wasn't any line. The staff there were friendly and directed me to make a U-Turn to face the entrance I entered from (same entry, same exit), and directed me where to park.

They promptly unloaded all our (big) bags of recyclables from my vehicle, and weighed them all. My mom was assisted by a very friendly woman at the transaction window and offered us some friendly advice. We made a rookie mistake with mixing different types of recyclables together, which resulted us to walk away with a little less refund than what was expected (which, again

Don't go this place, it's a rip off... I brought in beer bottles for recycling and instead of giving bottles pricing, they gave me aluminum can price... I also brought copper piping that I had from my home renovation, and instead of giving copper price of $1.25 per pound , the Japanese guy gave a price of brass... which was $1 per pound. Very disappointed.

I've taken my recycled beer bottles, cans, and plastic bottles to Waipahu Recycling twice now. The first time, there was a short line. The second time, there was a long line but it moved pretty fast. When it's your turn, the guys come out to unload your car and put all the cans and bottles in large wire bins. I've had about 10 bags each time. I only need to get out to go to the counter to collect my money for the recycled items. I'm collecting the money to turn in for our dance teacher's fundraiser. Right now, because of the caronavirus, it's so much easier

The best service you can receive at a redemption center. Pull up and they take your sorted recyclables, bags and all. They ask you to pull forward. And then you go and collect your cash. No sorting in trash cans. No standing in line. I live on the Windward side but need to go to Waipahu once a week. And they didn't close today because of the impending hurricane. The one I normally go to closed. Even though they normally are open on Sundays. 😀😀😀

Fast and convenient! The workers took care of everything. I drove up and didn't even have to get out of the truck other than collecting the $$. Definitely using them from now on.

Can't go wrong with this recycling place. Quick & easy drive thru. I do suggest having your items separated but after that you don't have to lift a finger otherwise. They will grab & dump items onto the scale then just go to the counter to get your cash. I almost don't want to write the review only because I feel like this is my little secret. Haha!

I live out on the North Shore. We have a recycling place in Haleiwa, but I would use the extra gas to drive out to Waipahu every single time. Your customer service is so much better than the service we have in Haleiwa!!! And they're open 7 days a week. I've told all my friends and family about you guys, and we all agreed that you guys are awesome. Keep up the great work and great , friendly customer service, and you'll have lifetime customers for sure!!!

I'm pulling into someone's driveway?

Not paying attention, I discovered that my regular cash pit was closed. That's what I get for not paying attention. I had to scramble to find a home for my recyclables . A quick yelp discovered this place and a quick apple maps got me here.
First it's location threw me off. I mean I'm actually pulling into a driveway of a house. The only difference from all the other houses is the 4x4x4 blocks of plastic bottles and aluminum cans. It reminded me of the movie WALL-E. And the big huge yellow compactor in the back gave me a clue

Hi5 redeemed. Organized. Mostly vehicle entry, so little chance of people cutting in line. Very fast. Scale might be off because I counted my cans, and I thought I should have gotten more. They weight it and paid less.
They were pretty fast. So it might be worth it to drop off 200 cans, and drive back to the end of the line again.

How it works: You wait in line with your cans and bottles in your vehicle and they take your stuff. They weigh it and you get paid per weight of plastic or bottles.

What they take: They take cans and bottles, to include glass. I think they also take scrap metal, but don't quote me.

They don't take: Cardboard boxes, wood, or plastic egg cartons.
