We contacted Marla about making a wedding cake, and while Marla took our deposit, she then didn't respond to 4 emails attempting to confirm our order (including details such as number of guests, type of cake, etc) and so we assumed she had cancelled on us. We found a last minute substitute, and then 10 days before the wedding she reached out to ask us to come do a tasting, which was too late for our venue to accommodate. When we told Marla this, she again didn't respond to the email, nor did she return the deposit or tell us why the deposit couldn't be returned despite the fact that

Marla made a pumpkin shaped cake for my son and daughter-in-law's Halloween wedding and it was beautiful! My daughter-in-law drew it on paper and it came out exactly like she wanted it to. Marla was professional and easy to work with. None of us live nearby so it was all done online. The cake showed up and was beautiful and delicious. We highly recommend Marla!

Marla did our wedding cake and desserts in September 2021 and it was absolutely amazing! We had a 3 tier buttercream cake in two flavors: passionfruit and salted chocolate caramel. We also had a dessert bar with fruit tarts, mini pecan pies, chocolate mousse, and chocolate covered strawberries. Our guests loved everything! Would highly recommend Marla!

Marla provided the most gorgeous (and delicious) wedding cake for our daughter's 12 person socially distanced, masked and backyard wedding.
After providing 3 tasting samples, we all picked the chocolate with salted caramel. The cake itself was a vision in shades of pink ruffles with candy "succulant" green accents, and it tasted as divine as well. She delivered on time and it made for a very very special day in an otherwise trying time.

For our wedding last year, Marla made us a beautiful 3-tier cake and several sheet cakes. From the cake tasting to wedding day, Marla was professional, prompt, flexible, and overall such a pleasure to work with.
When deciding on a wedding cake vendor, we did several tastings in East Bay. The cake tasting with Marla was the most enjoyable and we had a hard time choosing the cake flavors since they were all so good!

Marla made our wedding cake and we couldn't have been happier. She was wonderful to work with and her flavors were excellent. We chose passion fruit lemon curd (our favorite!), tiramisu, and chocolate salted caramel. Her portfolio is very impressive, and when we visited for our tasting we saw a few delightful cakes in person - if you have an idea I am confident she can transform it into a cake!
The cake she created was exactly what we were hoping for, elegant with a celestial theme, and we got a lot of compliments on both the design and the taste. We highly recommend Marla!

Marla was very easy to work with-- super professional but also very warm. We went in for the tasting and loved pretty much everything. The price is fair for the quality and love and care that it takes.
I mentioned that we would have loved to have some ube flavor to incorporate our Filipino heritage AND Marla made it possible! Our layers were chocolate salted caramel, ube, and blueberries and cream...just ridiculously rich and good.
The cake looked exactly how I wanted it to look -- farmhouse, rustic chic with sunflowers and NO FONDANT ( but her portfolio includes great fondant finished look as

Before we went to Cakes Made By M.E., my wife and I had visited two OTHER kitchens to find a wedding cake. Both visits were disappointing. Marla made our cake for our wedding on 7/13/2019 in San Ramon. I absolutely loved our cake!! It was beautiful! I'm so thankful that Marla was able to make our cake and our day that much more special. We met up with Marla about two months ago and fell to n love with her. She was so welcoming and promised us to make our wedding Cake. Marla created the most AMAZING and delicious wedding cake I could have ever imagined! Our guests couldn't rave enough about how beautiful our cake was. It was soooooo damn good and just... ugh, incredible!
Our tiers consisted of red velvet, coffee chocolate, and tiramisu and I was just beyond in amazement at how Marla transformed everything.
Marla was prompt and extremely efficient with arriving and setting our cake up. I didn't have to worry about a thing when it came to setting up, etc.
Marla is so kind and helpful when it comes to creating your vision, she was such a pleasure

We had a wonderful experience with Marla doing our wedding cake. She was the first baker we tried based on Yelp reviews and we loved her process and products immediately. The tasting was fun and she provided a lot of generous samples for us to try. We settled on the spice and passionfruit for our two layers with a fondant icing. I told her that I wanted a half cascade of real flowers and steered her to my Pinterest board for wedding ideas. We didn't see the cake until the night of the wedding and were so delighted with it. Marla is an incredibly talented baker and a beautiful person. I contacted her with a ridiculously last-minute request, but she was beyond generous and accommodating with her time and energy. The chocolate salted caramel cupcakes were delicious and brought a smile to so many people.

My husband and I were thrilled to work with Marla for our wedding cake and cupcakes. We chose the salted caramel, and there was a heavenly aroma that filled the air as people walked by. Several months later, our guests are still commenting on how awesome these cupcakes were. Marla was wonderful to work with, and not only were the cupcakes and cake absolutely delicious, but they were gorgeous, as well. Marla was wonderful to work with. We had a small wedding reception and asked if she could make cupcakes along with a small whole cake for the cutting ceremony. She made this beautiful amazing cake. She is so easy to work with and her final cake and display is a piece of art. I can't forget to mention the taste. Everyone could not stop talking about the wonderful salted caramel chocolate cakes. When my husband and I were looking for a baker to make our wedding cake, we decided to try three different bakers including Marla. She was actually the last of the three and she definitely made an impression right off the bat when we had our cake tasting. She's very bubbly and easy to talk to. She had a huge collections of her portfolio but we sort of had our idea about how we wanted our cake so she was on board with that. Marla listened to our vision and she was able to bring that to life. I like that she immediately had a picture in her head on how she would make it.

Her tasting was incredibly well crafted, featured fresh cake (unlike all the other tastings), and had a wide array to choose from (also, unlike the others). She made us feel welcome and had many books with a wide variety of styles to choose from.
And the cake? I'm not a cake person, but Marla's cakes were subtly sweet and packed with flavors. Light frostings and bright colors made for some amazing combinations. We went with three different flavors because we couldn't decide. We had a Berry and Cream cake (and ordered an extra half sheet
