Debbie Does Cakes is a custom sculpted cake studio. We only offer sculpted cakes. A sculpted cake is a cake carved by hand to resemble anything other than cake. We do not offer traditional cakes of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, tiered cakes, round cakes, sheet cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, etc.
By focusing exclusively on what we do best we can offer you something truly custom, this is what makes us different. Not to be seen as "just a cake", these are one of a kind centerpieces; works of art designed exclusively for you and your event. Services
I accidentally got into cakes. No, not in a pratfall, covered in buttercream kind of way, but in a confluence of events kind of way. For as long as I can recall, I've always been artistic. I'd draw on whatever was handy, even paper towels. In retrospect, it would have been cheaper to just buy me a sketchbook, but c'est la vie.
All cakes are iced in buttercream and covered with a thin layer of delicious, house made fondant. To begin the ordering process, please send an email via the contact form letting us know what date you'd need a cake, what design you had in mind, how many you'd be serving and the location of delivery.
Delivery hours are 9-3 M-F, 9-4 Saturdays. After hours and Sunday deliveries may be possible, additional fees will be assessed. Customer must arrange to have someone on site and available by phone at agreed upon time of delivery. If client cannot be on site at time of delivery, balance must be paid in full no later than 5 days before delivery.
Note: all custom cakes start at $275 plus delivery fees calculated by actual distance plus tolls. For those on a budget, a curated selection of pre designed cakes are available on the ready design page, prices vary. I ask for a minimum of two weeks notice for all orders however I often book up much sooner.

The process was easy! Ordered online, asked a few questions, filled out form, invoice was sent and payment made. Debbie was friendly, personable and as busy as she is I felt valued.
On to the cake: I've received so many compliments based on the size of the cake and how detailed it was! It was absolutely beautiful!
A MAJOR PLUS: the cake was DELICIOUS!! Super moist and not dried out like many custom cakes I've ordered.

FANTASTIC! Yes - the cakes look even better in person than they do in photos. The expert craftmanship and details are beyond amazing. The best part is that the cake itself is EXCELLENT. Moist, not too sweet, light dreamy buttercream - just perfection.
I really enjoyed working with Debbie on the cake. It was a boba drink and an heirloom tomato. Guests at the party thought it was a real tomato!!! Prompt responses to email, and she gave clear instructions for cake pick up. Debbie - thank you for your passion & expertise. You made my event one to remember!!

I can’t even explain to you the beauty the talent the pasión this business have for their clientele. I am one beyond impressed costumer. Debbie made an amazing vintage reel to reel player for my husband's 60th birthday. I sent her a black and white photo from 1979 and she was able to not only identify the exact model of reel to reel player, but she noticed every small detail in the photo, including the missing volume knob. The most frequent comment from people who saw it was "I am blown away." The cake itself was super moist and delicious. Thank you for helping make this an extremely special birthday!

Wow, what an amazing cake they made for my wife's birthday party. I asked for a Louis Vuitton purse cake and it was so beautiful and realistic that I had to put a sign next to it that it was a cake and not a purse so nobody would grab it by the handles. The realistic look and details of zippers, seams and every clip was just astounding. Everyone attending the party was blown away. In addition, everyone agreed that the cake was absolutely delicious. Chocolate cake with buttercream frosting was moist and wonderful.

Debbie did a marvelous job on our 1968 Circa newspaper cake for my King's birthday! Everyone was so shocked to find out that it was an actually cake. And not only was the newspaper edible but so was the plate, cup and the toast (that wasn't actual toast but was sculpted from sugar to resemble toast).... AMAZING! I still can't believe that I actually had the opportunity to have a cake done by this Magnificent "artist". Thank you so much Debbie!

Debbie did the Beatle Juice newspaper cake for my daughters 30th Birthday Day party. The cake was amazing to look at. The taste was just as good, we had to auction off the edible candles.

We collaborated on the perfect cake for my mother's surprise birthday party. I originally asked her for a custom cake of Robin Thicke's likeness, since my mother loves his music. But we went with another art direction, which was themed after my mother being the headline in the Vallejo Times-Herald. I needed a Starbucks Cake in the shape of a cup for a surprise birthday party in San Francisco. I recevied quotes from 11 places, 10 bakeries in SF and Debbie Does Cakes in Oakland. Even including additional cupcakes and delivery Debbie was the cheapest (and best).
The Starbucks cake measured a whopping 1 foot tall and could easily have fed all 35 of my guests. Debbie was probably leaning toward the conservative side with portions and servings when telling me it was only suited for 20 people though.
