Orignally founded in 1993 as Carousel Cities Youth Ballet by Elizabeth and Bonnie Fernandez in Binghamton NY. The school began by offering ballet lessons and performing opportunities to all children by free will and suggested donations. In the summer of 1997 Carousel Cities Youth Ballet held a special summer program in NYC housed in Carnegie Hall.
This was the beginning of New American Youth Ballet NYC. NAYB began in Battery Park City after 9/11 volenteering free ballet classes and performing opportunities in their neighborhood to the local children affected by 9/11. The Mission of The New American Youth Ballet continues to evolve, as we seek innovative ways to share music and dance to children of all economic backgrounds.

Services
Camilla Flores, age 10, has been accepted to the Kirov Academy in Washington DC for summer and year round young dancer program. She is now in year 2 at American Ballet Theater Young Dancer Program for the summer. Former NAYB student, Addy Hawley recently passed an American Ballet Theater National Training Curriculum exam.
Students not accompanied by an adult to/from NAYB Studio: For their safety, we prefer students be picked up by a parent or adult caretaker. Please let us know if your child has your permission to walk home after class. We strongly encourage students that walk to/from class without an adult do so in pairs or groups.

As a parent and teacher, I'm really struck by how calmly and effectively Elizabeth not only teaches regular classes, but even manages larger outreach events with many kids of different ages and abilities participating. Our daughter really loves her ballet classes, and, after each one, feels inspired to try out her new moves in our kitchen.

The New American Youth Ballet is doing wonderful things for young dancers. The head of the program, Elizabeth Fernandez Flores, is so passionate about art and story-telling through dance and it shows in her students' performances as well as her teaching methods. She cares about her students, and has a big heart and a lot of experience to share.

New American Youth Ballet is a phenomenal place for young, determined minds to grow not only in ballet technique, but as people and as a community. As a current performer at NAYB, I have learned so much about being a performer and also being a teacher. Overall, this school is 100% the school kids should attend to feed their minds and give them as many performance opportunities as well!

Elizabeth is as good as it gets. She teaches so much material in each class, and she does so with warmth, sensitivity, and fun. I’ve never seen a teacher who was able to demand (and get) excellence from students in a kind and relaxed way. She’s the perfect teacher for kids who have just a passing interest in ballet as well as a serious student with professional ambition. My son and daughter love ballet class and the world of dance and music Elizabeth has opened up.

I've known Elizabeth for years as her Chiropractor, even before she dreamed of started her Ballet school. I've always admired her passion and love for the ballet and for training young students to be great ballerinas I highly recommend her school, and as a side note, I love watching her daughter grow up and perform with her. I highly recommend checking out her cable series, Adventures of My Ballerina and Me.

Not only Is the New American Youth Ballet one of a kind and unique in its measures it takes to teach ballet in a profound way, all who are apart of this company have a heart of gold. From the owner, teachers and members, all of these talented persons put so much devotion, passion and dedication into their work that they do. We started attending this school last semester and couldn't be happier with it! Through song, the school has taught the proper french terms for many ballet positions and steps. Not only did it introduce my child to a love of ballet, but each class also incorporates good manners and etiquette. There are professional and knowledgeable teachers. It's an all around fantastic school. Highly recommend!!

This is our second year with NAYB and my three girls LOVE it! Miss Elizabeth and Miss Kara are both excellent dancers themselves and teach the children correct training at each level. The opportunities to perform alongside real ballerinas and a full orchestra is such a great, special experience. The school is very intimate and I feel each family is made welcome and a part of right away. I feel blessed to have found this classical ballet school for my children.
