Cataloochee Ski Area, North Carolina's first ski area, has been the home of "Great Skiing in the Great Smokies" for over 50 years. Cataloochee has one of largest snowmaking plants in the country and is typically one of the first areas in the East to open each year, averaging 125 days per season. Cataloochee offers 18 slopes and trails with a variety of options for beginners to experts.
The second Saturday evening of December, amidst the backdrop of hundreds of luminaries lining the sidewalks, you will enjoy carolers, live music, visiting Santa, and old fashioned wagon rides. Step back in time and stroll through Bethlehem as First Baptist Church re-creates a live nativity and bustling first century marketplace in the parking lot between Exxon and Waynesville Town Hall.
Being the eastern gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park mean access to hundreds of miles of hiking, some of the best in the country. The nearby National Forests and Blue Ridge Parkway also offer hikes, from short strolls to day hikes and longer. Here are some of our favorites. From the Waterrock Knob Parking lot the trails stars up the stairs at the north end of the parking lot.

It was the worst host I have ever experienced. It was snowing heavily, but no tools were prepared to clear the snow, and when we contacted the host, they did not even care about our safety and gave us the option of paying an extra day if we could not check out of the cabin due to snow. We also prepared all the snow chains. Attempts were made to rescue them by attaching chains. We tried our best to check out of the cabin but couldn't. A rescue call had to be called 911 and only the people could be rescued, leaving the car behind. The next absurd thing was that he was contacting us about the weather

Crazy wolf was completely miss leading and a horrible experience! The pictures do not show how you a in the 'sub division' and in bubble for all to see what you are doing! The hot tub is facing the road and under a bright street light and its also facing the neighbors kitchen window, which is 10 feet from your cabin. The fire pit is also under the street light. Which there is no privacy! The fire pit is also 10 feet from your neighbors kitchen window! I would highly recommend bring your own bed! It was like tryin to sleep on rocks. We was supposed to be there for 4 days. !"Stayed less then 24 hours

151 Maplewood Drive cabin
My family of 8 and I stayed at this property for 4 nights; throughout our stay, we came across several cleanliness violations.
First off, upon arrival and checking on the hot tub, we found a half eaten Subway sandwich in its original bagging along with an Aquafina bottle sitting on the edge of the hot tub steps on our back porch. This implies to me that our cabin wasn’t thoroughly cleaned and checked before renting it out to us.
Secondly, there were also many active spiderwebs throughout the cabin but especially in the bedrooms (corners, chairs, nightstands, and closets

First let me start with some positives, if you are a golfer then you would love this location as it is literally right across the access road from a golf course. The cabin is nice, cozy and homey but it is not secluded. The creek is nice, but there is no swimming, wading or fishing so you can only look at it or sit beside as there are posted signs. I was really hopeful our stay in Creekside Haven was going to give us the opportunity to relax and unwind, but again it is not secluded. There is a very busy golf access road in front with some type of condo type things, literally right there; some type

I have rented a cabin through Maggie Mountain Vacations and though my trip is still a month away, I can't say enough good things about their customer service so far! I had a ton of questions prior to booking and a change needed after I did. Debra was exceptional in answering all of my questions, making me feel very comfortable in my choice, and being very patient with my multiple calls. She went above my expectations taking care of the issue I had, even though it was my error and not theirs and they did not have to do anything. Makes me feel even more confident in my choice!

Love this company. We moved here in 2016 and they went out of their way to try and accommodate us, but we were not able to find a house through them. In 2017 when we had to move due to a rude landlord they found us a wonderful log cabin right away. The cabin has sold and once again they have come through for us with a beautiful home in Maggie Golf and Country Club. Tracy has gone above and beyond for us!! They really take care of their renters!

We stayed at the Awesome View lodge (reservation made through Air bnb) and had pleasant dealings with Deborah at the rental office. She warmly greeted us, provided detailed writeups of everything we needed to know about the cabin, and pointed us in the direction of the visitor center right down the road. Highly recommend stopping by the visitor center and speaking with Big John to get plans for your trip! Fryingpan tower is awesome! The cabin was excellent with truly an Awesome view, the grounds were well kept and there were ample towels, dishes and cooking utensils, and everything else we needed
