Many podiatric conditions can be healed through progressive treatment options without the use of foot and ankle surgery. Most of these surgeries require you to be immobilized for an extended period of time during recovery and then physical therapy after the cast has been removed.

Biomechanics is a scientific physics-based recognition of how the body works during rest and motion. It provides a method of analyzing the way a person runs, walks and sits, plus an intimate understanding of the altering bone, joint and muscle positions during these activities. The dynamic musculoskeletal functions of the body are achieved through complex interactions between the skeleton, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves.
Orthotics are shoe inserts that help straighten out foot and lower leg irregularities. They are inserted into shoes just like insoles, and they support the foot and correct abnormal joint motion. Orthotics support the arches and can help you regain normal body balance by providing a unique combination of support and cushioning.
Many sports injuries that involve the foot, ankle, and spine can be alleviated with podiatry. Traditionally, podiatrists have prescribed custom orthotics, or shoe inserts, to control excessive foot motion. For women in particular, excess pronation can occur with running. This means that the rearfoot tends to turn inwards, causing painful sports injuries like Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and anterior knee pain.
If you suffer from arch foot pain, then you probably have inflammation or a burning feeling in the arch of your foot. There are several possible causes, including some kind of injury to your foot or a structural imbalance that causes arch pain. But the most common cause is plantar fasciitis. I had a planters wart that was taking over my foot.
Because I let it go for so long ,I needed more than 1 visit. In this time I got to spend time with everyone in the office and they were all just wonderful and patient answering all my questions.
Thanks to dr wachtel my planters wart is completely gone!

In the past, I saw three different orthopedic doctors about some severe ankle pain. I could not put weight on my ankle or walk without pain. The pain got so severe I started limping leading to a pain(s) in my lower back.
Dr. Wachtel fitted and built an orthotic which fit inside my shoe. I walked out of his office painless! (I feel that I could run the Boston Marathon with my new orthotic).
The Doctor and his staff could not have been more accommodating. Highly recommended practice -- a great medical experience.

Great place! I saw Dr Lonnie Kaplan and he was extremely knowledgeable and a super nice guy. He was also very flexible to make an appointment that fit my busy work schedule. The follow-up since I've gone has been tremendous.... I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to this office, and in particular to Dr Kaplan!!

I've seen Dr Kaplan and he was kind, thorough and knowledgeable. Once, my foot was so painful, I could hardly walk,,, he adjusted my old, worn-out orthotic and things felt much better!... I also asked Dr K for a second opinion after another podiatrist injured my foot with repeated cortisone injections.
I just received new computer scanned custom orthotics. Real comfortable and I’m walking like I’m 10 years younger.
