A passion for vineyards and fine wines began many years ago when Jim was stationed in Europe in the early 1980's. Sandra and Jim's appreciation for wine continued for nearly 20 years, leading to a retirement in North Georgia, and establishing a small home vineyard. After a brief period of home winemaking, an opportunity evolved when Jim and Sandra bought the 29 acre tract where the now Cottage Vineyard and Winery dream came to life.

While clearing the land and getting the first vines planted, work concurrently started on making the first wines in anticipation of opening their tasting room in 2013. By forming relationships with other Georgia wineries, meeting winemaker, Joe Smith, Sandra's son Nathan joining the team, and Georgia London spear-headed the vineyard, the Cottage family came to life.
Services
All Cottage Wines are made right here on our estate in our cellar. We currently grow on the estate Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, and Merlot along with Pinot Meunier and Muscat. We offer Wine Tastings that allow our guests to select a flight of wines of their choice from our tasting menu. Pick from reds, whites, dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines.

The Mrs. and I spent our 10 year anniversary here and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The views are absolutely stunning and the wine is amazing (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t normally like wine). What made is most enjoyable is the amazing staff and the welcoming atmosphere. Even when it was packed, Dee took care of us and took time to talk to us about the surrounding area. We felt like we were part of the family and will be sure to come back and visit again!

A delightful tasting today with Jim providing a great commentary of the wines. The views of the valley and hills should be spectacular in another week with the fall colors. Brought home some wonderful wines. Seating available inside of outside. A memorial to the military services are on the grounds. When departing the property be sure you turn left for Helen and Cleveland.

One of our stops every time we visit the area. The view is awesome, the people are friendly and the wine is awesome.
One thing I need to call out from my last visit. We ordered a small charcuterie board to enjoy with out drinks. Last year (middle of Covid) we ordered it came nicely displayed on a wooden board. It was perfect! I was very disappointed in the presentation this year. It was served to us in a plastic to go box with cheese and meats wrapped in plastic. We asked the waiter what happened to the nice packaging and he explained their vendor was unable to get the boards and they did not

I visited this vineyard on a Monday afternoon, not a very busy time there. Hence the experience was not rushed, and I could relax in this picturesque estate while I tasted 6 samples. According to the host, all their wines are produced on location, with roughly half the grapes homegrown, and half acquired from vineyards in Georgia or California. A special mention would be the Southern Sass Peach Wine, which pretty well validated my visit to this scenic part of the Empire State of the South.

Stopped in for a tasting. Enjoyed every wine we tried. They also carry one of my favorite muscadine wines from Curahee Winery. I heard party of 4 more needs to reserve a tasting in advance. Well worth it.

My family has lived in Gainesville for over a decade and this was quite the best kept secret just 30 minutes away! The venue doesn’t need to be impressive because the view is stunning all on its own. It was a great spot because the wine, staff and outdoor seating always felt quaint and personalized. You are IN the mountains here and we all said it was our favorite compared to the others.

On my first visit to this lovely location I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine and equally impressed with the excellent location featuring a terrific view of the surrounding mountains and forests. My friend and I ordered a Cabernet and a Viognier and ate our lunch (which we brought with us) under a canopy on the deck with a great view of the vineyard and mountains. Afterward we moved to the fun little swing out front until we got too hot to remain outside.
For the remainder of our visit we sat inside the tasting room and visited with the staff while enjoying more wine. It was
