We had the immense privilege of staying here for a holiday party put on by my company and would do it 100x over without hesitation. The sleek modern architecture tucked in against the forestation and foliage is a beautifully striking visual, and is quickly complimented by one of the most professional staffs I've ever met. The interior is absolutely stunning, and the detailed attention to cleanliness is impressive (to say he very least). By the time we got to our room, I didn't think we had any room left to be further impressed but was quickly proven wrong; the accommodations are second to none

There is the Umstead hotel and then there everybody else in the industry. They take everything to next level all the way to greeting. One of a kind to this area.

To be clear, I’m only reviewing the afternoon tea experience. For the price, I would have expected a higher level of quality. The savory course was mediocre, the dessert was nice. The scones were disgusting! I can’t even figure out what they did but they were chewy and elastic while having layers like a puff pastry. The only taste was oil! I have no idea how they could’ve accomplished this.
Most importantly the tea was not prepared properly. My server started to pour the wrong tea into my companions cup before realizing it was the wrong one. Instead of swapping our cups, she proceeded to

One of few true 5 Star Hotels in the United States…. This hotel defines the 5 Star experience. Property grounds, carpets, rooms, towels, food, lobby bar, amenities, impeccable service.. From the moment you pull in this place you will quickly realize it’s more beautiful in person versus photos. That doesn’t happen often! The best staff of any hotel I’ve ever stayed. Thank you!!

My husband and I spent our wedding weekend at the Umstead in October 2021 and it redefined comfort for us. The hotel staff called us a few days ahead of time to make sure they had all of our information and made any accommodations as necessary. On hearing about our nuptials, we arrived to a chilled bottle of amazing sparkling wine, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a sweet note.
I don't know if this is true of all rooms, but we stayed in a Premium King Room. We are finicky sleepers, and with the amount of stress from the wedding, we were worried we would have difficulty sleeping. After a long

My best friend and I drove from Greensboro to experience tea at the Umstead. While the food and service were very good, we couldn't understand why they would mix a bar crowd with the folks participating in the tea. For over$70 per person and at a five star hotel I expected something a bit more relaxing and nicer. I think we will stick to tea at the O Henry in Greensboro for $17.95 per person. The atmosphere at OHenry for tea is far superior

This is for the Umstead Bar from last night, 9-18-21, and all about seriously substandard food. Atmosphere and our bartender was exceptional. Wine and cocktails were really good. My girlfriend and I have enjoyed going to the bar for about 6 years running now. While we had had apps and dinner before, we had never tried the burger. We built it up in our mind, given the hotel image. Last night, we both ordered the burger and fries. It was a severe disappointment. Both of our burgers were served almost cold, but the fries were hot....hummm. In the past, we had seen the burger and fries served

Nice accommodations and location. The on site restaurant was delicious and the wait staff were very attentive. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area. It is very convenient to the airport and centrally located to the Raleigh Durham area. I especially enjoyed the pool area and the wooded surroundings. Take a walk through the state park if you have the chance!

I'm giving this two stars instead of only one because my first visit for a late lunch in the bar was flawless. Prompt impeccable service, everything tasted wonderful. So I had a little time and decided to come back for a cocktail and a nosh.

I sat for fifteen minutes, was greeted Byrne hostess with spiced almonds, olives, and water within five. And no one bothered to ever come take my order. When I walked out, a server asked if I needed anything and when I told him, he averted his gaze and offered a meek sorry. A concierge or manager, not sure which stopped me on my way out and when I explained

We spent a wonderful week here and felt completely pampered! It was very easy to find from the airport, all of the staff were beyond helpful and so friendly, and the room was luxurious. The soaking tub was an absolute delight! The view from the room was gorgeous, as were the rest of the grounds. Everything was better than we expected and we will absolutely be returning!

This is a review for the bar area- cocktails and food. So my friend and I stopped in to celebrate her birthday. We were there on a week night and got a small table for 2 by the window. It wasn't crowded and it was cool and breezy evening so most people sat outside. The bar area is beautiful- very high-end looking, sleek, and sophisticated.

I ordered a cocktail from their menu and she had some celebratory champagne. For our meals, she ordered a salad bowl and I had the flank steak. Both were tasty. The service was excellent. Overall a nice experience at the bar. Would definitely return for

Wow...best hotel experience I've ever had. I am so happy that my husband and I were fortunate enough to book with The Umstead Hotel for our anniversary in October. I can still remember it like it was last weekend. First of all, the hotel is tucked away in a nature heaven and the service is impeccable. I honestly could have lived inside the hotel room forever!

Upon pulling up to the entrance, the valet men opened the car door for us, took our luggage, took the car, and then walked us to the check in counter. The check in process was simple, we were offered sparkling wine, and they offered

We're locals and stayed here for a night when we were moving. What a relaxing retreat! We loved our stay. Service was wonderful and the room was very comfortable. They provided a nice crib and even a toiletry bag for our baby. It was a nice touch that they did that and were family friendly. Even the nice restaurant on site was family friendly for dinner. As locals, we've enjoyed visiting the spa and bar from time to time, and we were glad to finally get to stay overnight. There was even a Nespresso maker in the room. Everything to the smallest detail was superb. The only improvement I
