Tension Relief Sewing is family-owned and operated right here in Modesto, CA. Since our company opened its doors in 2001, we've treated every customer like they were a part of our family. We strive to provide great service, and it comes with a personal touch. We have over 40 years of experience servicing and repairing of most makes and models of machines.

Owner Manuel brings over 40 years of experience in sewing machine service, repair and sales consulting. Manuel managed 2 stores for Singer company, supervised the Singer department in 9 stores for House of Fabrics, and worked for various other retailers. In 2001 he decided to open up his first shop in Hilmar, California.

Terrible place to go. Needed to get my bobbin fixed because it wasn’t spinning. The owner immediately said he couldn’t get parts for my
machine but said for $40 he could look at it, but if he couldn’t fix it I’ll be out $40 and it would take 2 weeks.
I decided to take it to Modesto Vacuum & Sewing Center at McHenry Village in Modesto. Walk in spoke to the owner and told him my bobbin on my sewing machine was not spinning. Called to get a general idea/estimate on a price range to have my machine serviced. I know it depends on whats wrong and such but I just wanted to know a starting point so I knew if I could bring my machine down now or if I need to wait a bit depending on the cost. The guy who I talked to was sarcastic and kind of rude. I am very disappointed because of the reviews for the other machine shops in my area were bad and that is why I didn't go to the other businesses. I read the great reviews on here and had high hopes, but I guess it must be a running theme between sewing machine techs to be rude
