My family has been buy our glasses from this business since its days in Burtonsville. I needed another set of glasses so I figured I would call them for a refraction and to order some new glasses. I explained to the person on the phone that I see an ophthalmologist annually and just had an exam 3 months ago. All I needed was a refraction. After being put on hold a couple of times that probably added up to about 7-8 minutes, I was told "we don't do refractions without exams".
Really? I know that it is recommended to get an exam with a refraction. But, I am also sure that recommendation assumes

Very bad experience. Patient was not informed for tests performed and charged additional at the end for these unwanted tests. I will not recommend this practice. Please make sure what Tests you are getting done and the Cost (if you have to pay out of pocket) before taking the Tests. Staff not informative and rude.

Really disappointed in this place. I had high hopes when ordering my new pair of glasses from them. However, I drove an hour across town to pick them up but the establishment closed earlier than the posted time. Their customer service is subpar and don't get me started on the cleanliness of the office. I wouldn't be surprised if the pests I saw on the floor were roaches. They have lost another customer.

After years of frustration with a variety of optometrists who couldn't seem to understand--let alone correct--my vision problems, I was delighted to discover Maple Lawn Eye Care Center. Dr. Jacalyn Ely identified that I had a complex binocular vision disorder and prescribed prisms in my glass lenses to compensate for it. I felt like she really wanted to solve my problem. She spent a lot of time with me, doing a variety of tests and answering all my questions. And her eyeglass technician was superb--creating a pair of glasses that maximizes breadth and acuity. I can now view and read comfortable

Dr.'s Ely & Cohen have taken care our family's eye care needs for nearly 25 years and we couldn't be happier. Exams are always thorough, prescriptions have been spot on, and their staff is very professional and helpful. They keep an extensive contemporary frame and lens selection along with a helpful, educated and patient staff who can help with a selection.
Eyeglass adjustments and repairs haven't cost us a cent, thank goodness, since I'm pretty hard on my spec's - I'm always knocking loose a nose pad or need a hinge tightened.
Having trouble seeing the monitor? Me, too! Dr. Cohen Rx'd my "computer

A number of years ago a friend referred me to the Maple Lawn Eye Care Center. My experience has been nothing but positive. I've been seen and cared for by all three doctors and was completely satisfied with my experience. Dr. Eli has been my primary, however. She helped me work through a retinal issue and then issues with dry eye. I thought I wouldn't be able to wear contacts anymore but she fitted me with just the right pair that allowed my eyes to remain moist. I was so thankful for the time she took to make this happen for me. Additionally, the Eye Care Center worked through issues with my insurance

The Best!
I had trouble with my eyes, when I started working with computers. Did vision training with Dr. Cohen, after going to a number of doctors (including others who did vision training). My vision stabilized, problems disappeared (no more eye strain). And it's been stable for over 25 years now.
He's also easy going. Good at communicating. Good with kids (some were doing training at same time). Patient. Informative and answers questions.
And best of all, he knows what he's doing medically. He kept up on research, integrated it into his practice, didn't pressure
