THE HUMMINGBIRDS Family Home Daycare was founded in 1999 by Mary Haas who ran the daycare alongside assistant Adela Sandino for 8 years. In 2007, Adela fulfilled a lifelong dream and purchased the business when Mary announced her retirement. The Hummingbirds provides a nurturing environment, emphasizing learning through play.
Our comfortable home setting provides children with a secure place to enjoy some of their first group play and learning experiences. I would definitely recommend the Hummingbirds. It was a wonderful first experience in daycare, both for our daughter and for us. Our daughter learned valuable social skills, both in terms of relating to her peers and listening to and trusting other adults.

Adela and the Hummingbird’s daycare is a gem! I highly recommend it. It was the best place for our daughter, she really thrived while there for 2 years. Adela is very loving and kind, truly cares about the kids. Her facility is always clean and it is managed well. The kids have a great time and are taught important social skills. We always felt like she was in good hands and really cared for and safe. There is also a nice community of parents as well. We feel very fortunate to have found Adela!

Taking our daughter to The Hummingbirds daycare was one of the best and easiest decisions we made early on in her life. I never doubted she’d be in good hands, and also entertained and learning every day. Adela had such a calm and professional demeanor, and her space is clean and has lots of different activities for the kids to choose from. She was able to walk that line of having rules and also being attentive to the kids needs. You won’t regret choosing The Hummingbirds!

The Hummingbirds daycare is one of the best day cares in San Francisco. Adela is amazing with kids, we toured several day cares before we settled on Hummingbirds and Adela is our top reason to choose Humming Birds. Adela is full of energy to match the energy of the kids. She is always bubbling with enthusiasm and engages the kids in a fun and nurturing way. The kids love her and you can see it when you drop them off and pick them. My 2 year old daughter has been attending The Hummingbirds Daycare for over a year now and we could not be happier with her experience there. Adela, the owner, is the perfect balance of professional and warm, exactly what we were looking for in a caregiver for our daughter.
Adela runs The Hummingbirds out of her spacious home, with plenty of safe, clean, and fun indoor and outdoor areas for the kids to play. Our daughter has been with Adela through the better part of this last year and we couldn’t be happier with Adela’s care for our daughter. Covid has obviously been a rough time for all of us, but Adela took it in stride, always wearing her mask and gloves but still letting the kids feel warm and loved. Her home is very convenient to access and is filled with fun toys and activities. On top of this, she’s extremely professional and excellent and communicating with the parents. We receive daily pictures and updates, a full year calendar of any days off and notice we’ll in advance of any changes

To say we love Adela and her daycare, The Hummingbirds is a total understatement. We adore Adela and The Hummingbirds and feel fortunate to have found her and had her care for our children. Adela checks all the boxes that you will look for in a daycare provider - safe, loving/caring, communicative, responsible, fun, creative, and nurturing. We chose Hummingbirds after visiting 40 daycares in the city. Our daughter thrived here (19 months to 36 months), Adela is exceptionally loving, caring and energetic care giver. My daughter also very much enjoyed doing all the fun projects with Idania. Now that my daughter is graduated and in a preschool, I miss receiving daily pictures and videos of my daughter (yes, Adela sends a bunch almost everyday) and the warm and healthy lunches and snacks Adela provided everyday (it is so much work to pack snacks and lunch). The space is amazing at Hummingbirds too - a huge, bright and open living room

We’ve sent both of our kids to The Hummingbirds and had an amazing experience. The owner and caregiver, Adela, is one of a kind. She’s loving, energetic, professional and very responsive. The environment is very conducive for kids to play and learn. I love that the kids spend a lot of time outside and it’s also a bonus that she provides the food. Overall I can’t say enough positive things about the school.

Simply put, Adela is amazing. We started our daughter with Adela and Hummingbirds in the middle of the pandemic and Adela's love and care for our daughter made us feel so comforted. Adela sends multiple pictures and videos every day of all her kids having fun, learning, and simply being goofy. It's a small touch, but always brightens my day. Adela, thank you for providing such a wonderful and loving place for our daughter!
