We are passionate about providing a natural and focused care plan for each of our resident equines including physical and emotional rehabilitation and training. We have been honored with one of the first Top-Rated Awards of 2020 from Great Nonprofits. We appreciate all of your contributions!. We support the equine community through our Education Center clinics for horse owners to help them to provide the best care for their horses.

We perform welfare checks and help those who need support to keep their horses through the Jasper Family Community Fund.
Services
Serenity is hosted on a privately owned horse farm in Maple Valley, WA. The case was one of the largest equine hoarding cases in King County and eventually saved over 70 horses. At Serenity, neglected or abused horses receive quality veterinary care, are socialized, and given essential training in preparation for adoption.
Horses come to Serenity due to a number of circumstances. No matter the reason, it is important to note it is never the horse's fault. Rescued horses are like any other horse except they have been neglected, abused, abandoned, or they have been relinquished because the owner could no longer care for them.
This class covers the basics for people new to working with horses. We will focus on approaching the horse, haltering and leading, grooming, situational awareness, safety around horses in general, developing trust, and learning to be the herd leader. Being in tune with your horse is about more than riding it a few days a week.
For 20+ years, horses have shown up as teachers, guides, and partners to therapists and coaches all over the world. While the methods and focus differ, horses by being horses offer accurate reflections, messages, and life-changing experiences to people who are open to their presence. Working with facilitators, horses help bring about healing from trauma, assist youth and adults in recovery, veterans, and others with PTSD.
Horses are prey animals and therefore would never live alone by choice. The herd provides many advantages, physically, mentally, and emotionally such as taking turns watching over each other while they sleep. Horses need a partner to engage in mutual grooming that releases comforting hormones and helps to create bonds between them.

On the surface Serenity seems like the ideal place, but on close inspection i believe this is not true. It appears to be a place all about appearances, but nothing about true animal welfare. I was a volunteer there for several years. It took me quite awhile to see what really is going on there. For starters their web site is full of misinformation and untruths. They have no trainer - he quit years go. The horses are given no exercise or training. Sure, the paddocks/barns are clean and the horses are fed, but there is a lot more than just leading a horse from barn to paddock every day. Horses must

I have been an enthusiastic volunteer at Serenity for over a year. I started with the intention of spending one day a week there and now I'm up to three. If I lived closer, I am sure I would be there most day of the week. This is a lovely environment for horses, piggies, and the people who volunteer.
I grew up with horses but had not been around any for many years. I thought I knew a fair amount about them until I started watching and working with Patricia. She is a marvel, a true force of nature in her knowledge and passion for these animals. I learned about the horses’ health needs and their

I've been volunteering at Serenity Equine for a couple of years now and feel so grateful to be part of this amazing rescue and team! I've been fortunate to work most days with Patricia who is incredible. Even after all this time I still learn something new from her (and the horses) regularly on how to care for these amazing horses. Everything that is done is with their best interest at heart and there are so many pieces to consider! It warms my heart to have personally witnessed horses come in having been mistreated and then heal from the inside and out. Thank you Patricia and Serenity Equine!

I have been volunteering at Serenity for four years and I absolutely love it. I often feel that I sometimes get more out of it than the horses do.Patricia Clark has taught me so much, and the passion she has for the horses she cares for is immense. To see a horse that has come in either abused or neglected and see them heal both in body and in spirit is truly remarkable. I feel truly honored to be a part of such a great volunteer team. I hope to keep volunteering at Serenity for as long as Patricia will have me.

I was considering volunteering there and decided to go and check out the facility first, only to be very rudely turned away by the owner saying there are absolutely no visitors allowed. I was very surprised by the cold welcome and being made to feel like some invading criminal. The only reason I drove 45 min out there is because on their website, it clearly says ‘Visitors are welcome on weekends, or by appointment’. (Barn Rules page 1, under Farm Hours). Nowhere does it say visitors are not welcome, or by appointment ONLY. They should really fix the verbiage on their website, so they don’t

I am the owner of two of the horses at Serenity. While I am grateful for the care that they are receiving I am extremely upset at the total and complete lack of regard they have for finding out the truth before they post a bunch of lies. They show pictures of my horses and the caption says they were abused and taken from me because of drug use. This information came from a neighbor who was not telling them the truth. The neighbor has had a problem with us for years. What happened was my ex-husband developed Alzheimer's disease. Once I knew this I came back and took over. I quite frankly had a mental

When I tried inquiring about a horse it was difficult to get someone to contact me back. When I was told to send in an application before I can see the horse I did and I have yet to hear back from anyone its been well over 2 weeks. Even when I sent another email to see how or even where my application was I did not get a response back. I'm a little disappointed I was really looking forward to meeting this horse.
