Back For Yoga is "the little yoga studio with the big heart" in downtown El Segundo, CA. The studio setting is cozy and intimate. Class size is limited to 10 persons. Our experienced teachers are able to give individual attention to students at all levels of practice, including newcomers and health-challenged individuals.
Back For Yoga is associated with the Gambucci Clinic of Chiropractic, which is located next door. In fact, Dr. Anthony Gambucci opened the studio after he experienced firsthand the benefits of a yoga practice in conjunction with chiropractic treatment. Dr. Gambucci had back problems of his own as a result of many years of running and training for marathons.

We need your help! Our goal is to have classes you want and the times that you want them. When we accomplish this, you benefit and so do we! In order to do this, we have developed an evaluation form that you can submit with your feedback about existing classes and suggestions about the types of classes and times of classes that you would like to see added to our schedule.
NOTE: When only one student shows up at a class, the teacher has the option of reducing the length of the class to 1 hour after explaining the reason for the reduction in class length to the student. NOTE: Students new to yoga or with health-challenges may want to schedule one or a series of private sessions with one of our teachers before or in conjunction with attending classes at the studio.
Payment accepted in cash, check made to "Back for Yoga", debit or credit card (in studio). We do not offer PayPal/online payment at this time. Back for Yoga is open during class hours only. Okay, so first I'd like to say I'm a regular patient of Dr Gambuccis chiropractic clinic which I LOVE. but let me share how I found out about this El Segundo gem. I was at the 24 hour fitness taking a Zumba class, and following class I ended up in a conversation with Victoria, an instructor here. She recommended to come do yoga and go to Dr. Gambuccis due to my immense pain I have from my TMJ, which I have been struggling with for over 10 years. And let me tell you: it. Has. Been. Life. Changing. I have taken classes with Victoria, Janet and Ina and I have yet to be disappointed. Victoria

I was in town for work and took a drop in class here. It was a fabulous way for me to experience yoga in a new town. I felt so comfortable and had an amazing yoga class in this small, yet "homey" studio. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a studio to practice yoga in a non-intimidating and comfortable setting. I had the best time!

I'm a dude that is new to yoga. When I arrived the Instructor Victoria was really helpful and took time to set me up. She signed me up for their 2 week special, $30 unlimited. I wasn't sure what to expect but the class was great! I thought Yoga was just stretching but we did some core and back exercises. Since I've been coming my shoulders are a lot better and almost pain free! She is a first class instructor and I will be back for more.

I'm really bummed to be giving this place such a low rating because I really wanted to like this place. I purchased a 10 class pass ($120) and out of the 4 times I went for a class after work, 2 of the times no instructor showed up. I learned from talking to one of the regulars while we were waiting outside, that one of those failed times was supposed to have been taught by the manager. That's just bad! This place is just one tiny room (no receptionist) so if the instructor doesn't show up then you're locked outside.
The other 2 classes I did end up going to weren't bad

I was so excited when Back For Yoga added a bunch of new classes at the start of the year. Having lost the option of a lunchtime yoga class I'd been taking through the city for years, I really wanted one or two new weekday classes for those hours when the kids are in school. I hit the mother-load (ha! no pun intended) with one or more options every day of the week at Back For Yoga. Taking advantage of their New Student 2-week package, I've been trying out as many as I can and I haven't been disappointed yet. Quite the contrary - the variety of classes and the expertise and fun

This is a very small, intimate studio. I'd say it can comfortably fit 6 which may have its drawbacks, but all that really means to me, is receiving the individual attention that every student so deserves. The reason I'm giving Back For Yoga five stars is because all of the instructors were incredibly delighted to have my nine year old daughter practicing there with me. Especially Andy! He is such a wonderful instructor. We moved to Orange County for a brief time and that mean't leaving BFY. I could tell that Andy made a lasting impression on my daughter, as she often spoke

Just finished my first yoga class! I went to the Gentle Yoga class with Janet. Janet was very attentive; she constantly checked on me to make sure I was ok. I really appreciated that level of concern. The class was very small; that was a plus for me. The other ladies didn't seem to be bothered by a newbie like me. The studio itself was small and very clean. I will definitely be coming back. And to think I drove passed this yoga studio for YEARS!! What a gem! Thanks Back for Yoga and Janet!

I discovered Back For Yoga back in January through a Living Social deal. I got the deal for a few reasons: 1) I wanted to resume regular yoga practice, 2) it was near my office, and 3) it was a small studio. I was quickly attending class 4 days a week, right after work! I unfortunately had to move to Northern California, so I don't get to go to this little studio anymore!
I love that the classes here are small...on average, there were about 4 students per class. I have seen the studio fit up to 7 or 8 students, but it gets a little cozy, especially for those in the back. But, this is rare

I've been coming here for about 8 years - finally time to write a review! This is a very small, neighborhood place, run on a shoestring. Six people is a crowd! I would never go to a big yoga mill. Here you get personal attention. The classes are all a little different - hatha yoga, gentle long stretches, etc., but they're all good and have something to offer. I especially love Betty's 6 am Wed. and Fri. class - sometimes I'm the only one showing up and get a private class! Andy's starts out with a few minutes of chanting, and after a few times you memorize it, and

Tired of gym yoga and wanted the real thing. Decided to try Hatha Yoga with Andy. Amazing! Got a little weirded out by the meditation/chanting in the beginning, but really got into holding the poses. Loved that we could use the studio's yoga strap and blankets. Loved the use of essential oil at the end. Never felt so relaxed and stretched out. Wanna come back for more when in town.

I have been going to Sonia's class for the past one and half year. She is the best yoga instructor that I have had.
a. She is very dedicated and kind instructor
b. She always comes to the class very well prepared
c. Every week she has a different routine which is very nice for your body.
d. She is meticulous about teaching the correct poses. This is a very important part of yoga if you want to get most out of your training.
e. She is open to discuss different questions about yoga after the classes if you want to.
In summary I have had an amazing experience going to Sonia's class

This is a great place for all levels of yoga. The instructors are awesome, the studio is small and intimate. I have taken Andy's Monday night class which is good for first time students. He ends the class with a bit of aromatherapy which is the perfect way to end the class and to start the week. My all-time favorite are Sonia's classes. She explains the purpose as well as the correct form for each pose. I have learned so much in her class. She is an amazing instructor!

I've been coming to this studio for a few years now and I love it!! The teachers are wonderful and the space is very quaint and tranquil. I love the vinyasa flow class taught by Maureen. It is challenging and a great workout, and she takes her time to make you feel comfortable and help you with any accommodations. I also love the Restorative class taught by Sonia. It is amazingly relaxing!! Almost feels like a massage! The prices here are quite a deal, too!!

I have never been a fan of yoga. It always seemed like a slow form of torture designed to highlight all of my biomechanical shortcomings.
And then I discovered Janet's 'Gentle Yoga' at Back for Yoga on Mondays and Thursdays.
When I first saw the words 'Gentle Yoga', I imagined myself falling asleep from boredom. I could not have been more wrong. Janet begins the class by asking everyone what they would like to focus on that day. Sometimes we work on loosening tight hamstrings, sometimes we open up our chest/shoulders. She always manages to tailor the class so it

I've been going to this yoga studio for years, and I love it! The studio is tiny, which is great because the classes are intimate. I've been the only student in the class many times. Back for Yoga offers various kinds of yoga. The vinyassa flow class with Maureen is my favorite. She'll get you long an lean. I've also tried the traditional hatha, yin yoga, and restorative yoga. There really is a yoga class to meet everyone's needs here.
