This place certainly has historic charm. The staff were great as well. Be warned, however, this is an old hotel. As such, the walls are thin. You might hear your neighbor making noise. That's not the hotel's fault, but something to keep in mind.

Historic hotel. Well preserved. Large rooms. Heart of downtown Arcata on the Square with LOTS of restaurants, bars and eclectic local shopping. Huge Farmers Market and fun local events on weekends. Hair salon, sushi restaurant and shop on 1st floor.

Rooms are old and small...bed was uncomfortable. Danish in a plastic wrapper with coffee for bfast. Disappointing. Great location in a neat historic building. Good Japanese restaurant off the lobby.

Great historic hotel...has an elevator and a great Japanese restaurant on the 1st floor. Beds are small. Parking is on the street. Make sure you get a room facing the town square.

The hotel is historic and is overall very cool. Staff was friendly. Centrally located in Arcata. They have nice clawfoot tubs and the vibe is definitely charming.
The only issues are that it can be VERY loud and have a distinct crowd around. The walls are thin and there are multiple bars nearby. No parking lot. I found parking nearby, but I would make sure you remove ANY valuables from your car unless you want your windows smashed out. Wouldn't recommend for anyone traveling with children. Its definitely an experience and some people might love it, but I would personally opt out next time and

Fun, comfortable, kind staff. Cool, old-fashioned decor. Close to lots of places to eat and shop. Our room was small and didn't have AC, but did have a great paddle fan. We opened the windows, but then the street noise was a bit loud. A good value and out of the ordinary.

While the building is very cool and in a great location if you like the main square with restaurants and shops, sleep is not to be had with the loud bars and thin walls. Our bathroom was NOT clean. I live in a house built in 1899, so I know old snd clean are not the same. The tub had “personal” hair in it which I didn’t notice until I was in the tub and had it floating around me. Very disgusting - tub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile but didn’t realize it until it was too late. I paid for nostalgia, bringing my daughter on a special trip, and we left disappointed.

Excellent and attentive service at this beautiful hotel. Booked a full-sized single and was very impressed with its spacious layout and massive windows. The bathroom was huge with a clawfoot tub and wraparound curtain for that extra old school feel. The water pressure of the shower nearly knocked me off my feet - just how I like it.
I stayed over a holiday weekend, so don't feel commentary on exterior noise level is fair, but the hotel IS at the heart of a small but bustling downtown community. Still, I slept comfortably and look forward to my next stay.
Special thanks to Zach at the front desk

We spent 3 nights there in a two room suite. You have to accept it is a really cool, old school building. The building has been adapted to more modern expectations without ruining the antique feel. We loved it.
