Community Preschool was formed as a parent cooperative in 1946, making us the oldest preschool still in existence in Topeka. The parents participate in their child's classroom one day per month and get to be an active part of their child's learning. Admissions policies are non-discriminatory in accordance with the Kansas Civil Rights Statue K. S. A. 44-10009.

Please contact our director at 785-272-2902 to schedule a time to tour our preschool. We look forward to meeting you.
Services
What kind of training do the teachers have? Our teachers have teaching degrees in either early childhood education or elementary education. What type of curriculum is used at Community Preschool? We provide a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate. We encourage an unhurried atmosphere with hands-on activities to enhance learning in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, language, and intellectual.
The enrollment fee for the 2021-2022 school year is $60 for the first child that you enroll. If you are enrolling any siblings the fee will be $30 for each additional sibling. This is a non-refundable fee which secures your child's placement. We also collect a $10 party fee per child when you enroll.
We have a long driveway as the school sits far back from the street on the west side. Watch for the "one way" and "private drive" signs on Fairlawn Rd. a few feet north of the Community Preschool sign. You may also access our school off of 17th and Amhurst Road. Amhurst Road is one block west of Fairlawn Road.
