Tri Valley Karate Pleasanton
Traditional martial arts dojo teaching Goju Ryu Karatedo to Adults/Teens and kids 6+ (with a parent in class). Part of the All Japan Karatedo Federation Goju Kai, one of the largest karate organizations in the world headquartered in Japan. Each child looking to participate in our karate for kids in Livermore, Pleasanton, or Dublin is encouraged to try a class first to determine whether or not it's right for them.

Children 6+ are able to join our adult classes at the instructors discretion; this is a case by case situation as each child is different.
Services
Do I need any experience? Absolutely not! Beginners are welcome! You do not need any previous martial arts experience. Most students have never had any martial arts training, and if they have, it was years ago. Age isn't a factor, Goju Ryu Karate focus very much on your breathing, coordination with the movements.
Sanjit Mandal has over 31 years of Martial Arts training. In 1989 he started training with Sensei Hiroshi Sakumoto in Japanese Goju Ryu Karate do. Mr. Mandal was an enthusiastic practitioner, training four to five times a week. Mr. Mandal continued to train often, as he enjoyed being challenged mentally and physically and earned his Nidan (second degree black belt) at the age of 17.
Your dojo should be considered your personal sacred place in which to work out and train. Its positive atmosphere is created from the beginning of class during the dojo reishiki. Karatedo is but a part of your education received in the dojo.

In the dojo you will learn the principles of many other styles, so much that many times when speaking to Martial Artists of other schools you may know more of their history and forms similar to and of their style than they do.
I never think of age as a factor I believe you are as young or as old as your mind tells your body. Yes as more time passes we will do things in moderation however I have found that karate has been a great benefit in keeping me fit. Sanjit is a motivated, supportive and competent instructor. He knows how to diversify the training based on the technical and physical abilities of his students.
After local parents have been inquiring about a kids program, we listened and started a new 6+ program. This is the beginning of something new for the award-winning dojo. How can karate help the entire family? Thanks to Sensei who made her comfortable in her first class and she quickly started to adapt new styles.

Karate is fun and great for your health! Tri Valley karate has kept its members together during the pandemic with regular classes and other get-togethers such as virtual pizza parties and ice cream socials. Sensei is nice and encouraging. This is a close-knit dojo community for kids and adults!

Tri-Valley Karate Pleasanton truly cares for all members while embracing the Goju-Ryu karate style. Their continuous commitment towards all dojo pupils reveal their goal to push every student beyond the boundary of expectation. They encourage you, support you, and most importantly they teach you the fundamentals of karate while keeping in mind it's most historic past.
All in all, this dojo is not a circle of individuals learning karate, but instead close peers trying their best to reach their aspirations and goals.
Thank you to Sensei and his family for everything they do to ensure the success

Being able to go to karate is an Awesome experience. My teacher is very flexible and he will help me no matter what. Going there has helped me become physically and mentally strong. We also have tournaments in other cities that gives us a feel of how competition works. Other teachers that are highly experienced come to our Dojo to teach. And it helps us all improve as a person and a karate competitor. I think I have gone a long way from before I started. I highly recommend going to this Karate class. Given all the reasons I rate this class 5 stars !!

I’m very happy to have discovered Tri-Valley Karate, thanks to a friend’s recommendation. Sensei took a lot of time to speak with me about options for my 7-year old daughter. He recommended the 2-week trial, which was really eye-opening. You really learn karate! The young kids do all of the punches and kicks, and they learn the names/words in Japanese. Sensei is patient and explains all of the etiquette and moves in detail. The 3x/week availability is great; we take advantage of more practice. I especially appreciate the added help from students with higher level belts. The facility is clean

When we first looked for a dojo for our son to study karate, we knew we had found the right place when we met Sensei Sanjit. His enthusiasm and true passion for karate comes through from the moment you meet him. He stays true to the art and helps build self confidence in all of his students. His respect for the art-form comes through in such a way that his students learn and emulate naturally. He does all of this while keeping it fun and engaging. Sadly, we have moved from the area but our son always looked forward to each training class and we will miss Sensei Sanjit and this dojo.

Sensei Sanjit is an exceptional instructor. He is deeply knowledgeable about both traditional and modern forms of Karate. He has a natural gift for conveying his enthusiasm for martial arts to students of all ages, which inspires students to excel. He is extremely patient, caring, and encouraging and adapts his teaching style readily to serve the needs of the individual student. From complete novice to advanced black belt, this is definitely a Dojo worth looking into.

These classes are not to miss. Sadly, I had to move away from the area and was no longer able to attend. Thankfully, I found a sister Dojo in my area. If I still lived in Pleasanton, I would be going to this Dojo. This was a very family oriented school. The instructor really takes the time with each person and is very patient in his teachings. A++!

I have had both the honor and pleasure of training alongside Sensei Sanjit Mandal for almost 10 years during his time in Boston. He was at that point already a senior student of our Sensei Kazumi Tabata, and a trusted mentor to myself and other new students. Sanjit’s enthusiasm for martial arts was contagious, always making himself available to myself and junior students inside and outside of class, and helping to run and judge tournaments, involving himself in every aspect of karate to keep the art thriving in New England. The most important question to ask when choosing a martial arts instructor

For several years I had been looking to get back in to martial arts. Having previously trained in traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate I had been searching for a school that would respect the centuries old traditions of karate and deliver the teachings of an old world dojo. Tri-Valley Karate in Pleasanton offers such a program. Sensei Mandal takes a personal interest each student’s progress offering instruction that is not only challenging but tailored to our personal development. The dojo is a very family friendly environment; My 6 year old son and I have been training together since last year
